Swap.
You stated you had 275,000km on that engine.
If you want power rebuild or swap the engine.
Being a $400 s13, spend your money getting the car back into working shape before you even think about 250hp NA which might cost you upwards of 5x your cars worth.
fastest way and prob easiest… i would say sr20… upgrade turbo and some components and spend $5,000-$10,000 all together and yea u will get there… butttt for that price id rather jump on a new car and use that as a downpayment IMO.
or sell your car and buy one of the already swaped cars that are on the board, Hell look at Mikeness car, that is Sweetness and can deliver what you want for cheaper then you are going to build it
i dont know why you would buy a 400$ car if your looking to make up to 250hp? I’m guessing its not in very good shape, so why dump allt he money into it?
why run a ka-e for NA power? at least put a snail on…
hmm… well what about a high comp. ka w/ short ram n few small bolt ons… im sure ull achieve possibly 220hp? though my knowledge to limited… so dont take my word.
you want 250 hp na?
buy a 350Z
theres a reason they cost 40 g’s
otherwise get a motor swap ( i do those )
stock the KA isn’t a slouch, I personnally would recomend brakes/suspension/wheels/tires as a starting point for mods,
Learn the cars chacteristics first before the almighty quest for power
it doesnt matter how much you spent on the car, if the frame rails arent rusted to shit than you are ok, restore the cars basic systems to normal, than proceed doing an sr20det swap, that is what is likely the least technical work…
250 hp you say?
Easy, …just get one of these:
Im the the process of the same conquest. My advice? DE! The single cam is a pile, plain and simple. new rubber after the addition of cam #2
Ive had all three motors.
KAE in my S13
then I swappedn an SR
then i got an S14 with a DE
the KA’s are both the same, not worth swapping one for the other. If you want to spend a few thousand on a N/A DOHC (intake, header, exhaust, ignition, AEM EMS) then go for it. Jantos’ car had that setup when he took off his turbo kit and the car had something like 180 horse at the wheels. It was pretty sweet. Otherwise go with something turbo.
i’ve looked into n/a ka applications as well, researched it in and out. even spoke to jwt tech staff.
found out it’s not an easy task and not worth paying the amount of money it takes to break 200whp which could instead get you an sr or a mean ka-t.
research it a bit more and you’ll see what i mean.
rust remove ,repaint
lol… ahahha… yea like thats gonna get him 250hp… why dont u get 4 cams and see if that makes it any faster… im sorry
A twin cam on its own is alright, but NA HP has never been my thing. From test results and opinions of the people driving the cars, some believe that a lower budget KA-T pulls harder than a stock SR. Seeing as my setup isnt complete yet, I can niether verify or deny these claims. However, once it is done, I have my cross hair pointed squarely at a stock SR powered notch.
Lower budget turbo cars will die.
Do it properly the 1st time, ghetto swaps are weak.
You wont be happy with a stock sr, 1st you’ll want to up the boost, then exhaust, fmic, mafs, injectors.
haha Dont forget Rad/clutch/fuel control
