A little late on posting this, but picked up a new DD for the wifey this past Memorial Day weekend. Picked this up from Coldaccord at Buffalo Motor Works. I know Dre is fairly well known on here, and I’ve known him for at least 5 years now, but I can’t say enough what a stand up guy he is . Made the entire process of buying the car painless, and had to go well out of his way to accommodate a few things for me since I was in Syracuse. Even fit me in just a couple days ago on short notice when the CEL came on (in true VW fashion lol). Anyways, here’s some pics and specs (sorry for the poor lighting/angles):
2003 VW Passat GLS 1.8T 127k miles
-5 speed Tiptronic automatic
-Loaded with every option available except stability control
-Has its fair share of blemishes, the worst being a crinkled passenger rear door from a dent that was pulled but not finished.
Overall I have to say that despite not being a VW guy, this car drives beautifully. And of course the wife loves it so that means now I can turn the focus back to something for me
Lz and ultra bringing the “I’m so fucking baller and I hate anything that doesn’t have a v8” per usual
Lz why don’t you go back to wnyfbods? Oh wait… You can’t, because you’re a dick
And ultra, why don’t you post on forums that are local to you? Still have no friends after moving away and have to post on buffalo forums in an attempt to brag about how cool you are since now you live in big bad Texas?
I mean, if I chose move across the country I would focus on my life there, this includes local forums… But that’s just me :gotme:
ANYWAY solid purchase for a wife. off the top of my head, i can think of 2 forum members who had really good luck with these cars, one personally put over 100k on it, and one i know drove it for a really long time just doing the scheduled maintenance
look out for the control arms, learn how to replace a coil pack, make sure the scheduled maintenance is up to date, join www.dubsinthebuff.com if you want, there is a lot of info for 1.8ts there, and a lot of people who are really helpful when it comes to vag-com (which, you will probably need at one point or another)
2003 and the body still doesn’t look dated gotta give it up to VW for that. I hope you can work on it yourself ten years old with that many miles it can nickle and dime you to death with the quickness.
Nice purchase Mike. I recently picked up a 01 vr6 for my brother. So far the only issues have been. He can’t drive manual, it keeps developing new coolant leaks, and I really hate working on it.
Thanks guys. I should have mentioned that this is her second Passat. Her first car was a 2000 Passat and her parents drove VW’s when she was growing up, so I’ve been screwed since the start lol. She had a lot of issues with her first Passat, mostly because their family friend’s shop did the work and didn’t have a clue when it came to working on a VW. That being said, the second time around now should be a better experience. And I know enough people now here and in Buffalo that getting work done without killing my wallet shouldn’t be too difficult.
