Looking to start pricing out a new driveway for my N buff home. Thinking I want to go the asphalt route. Any recommendations of companies that do asphalt that people have used?
Reach out to 1QIKZ…whoever did his, did a great job I think…also, he was referred from a connection here as I recall…forgot who…
Cool. Also- do you know if I need to get approval from the city to put a parking pad in front of my porch stairs? I’d like to put in an additional parking spot.

Nvm. Checked and I do need permission from the city.
You most certainly do…I would not mess around with something like that, my friend learned the hard way and had to go through some BS with the city for the same kind of thing, after the fact…
You can check out one of my previous threads which had info on my driveway job. I used the same guy for all my concrete. I believe Joefoureyed referred him to me. When I investigated doing my driveway, I had a reputable asphalt company quote it. Based on that, concrete was more but not enough more to warrant choosing blacktop. The longevity and durability of concrete was hard to ignore.
For all my pours, I did all the prep work, ordered the concrete, and this guy and his crew showed up to pour and finish, with saw cutting the following day. Without knowing more about the scope of your job, and the amount of work you want him to do, I can’t speak to whether or not he can help you. If you do go the same route I did, I still have all the wood forms I used along with the stakes, and the laser level I used to shoot the grades / pitch. I’ll do anything I can to answer any questions you might have, and maybe help a bit if I can.
What did you do with all the busted up stuff? Rent a dump truck/trailer and haul it away? Im thinking of doing the same this year. taking out and preping mine, then hiring someone to come pour and finish it
Do not use Capozzi
I used my dump trailer. There’s a place a couple miles from me who takes it for free.
Can you get me info on the place?
name or #
Thx
I’ll see what I can do. Not sure where you’re located but there’s a couple few places in the area that accept old concrete.
yea I dunno about hacking up my driveway myself. I thought concrete would be considerably more than asphalt. I was leaning towards asphalt because I read it’s better for the climate we live in whereas concrete is more prone to cracking and difficult to repair.
Mine has survived the one of the coldest winters on record. Two small hairline cracks. Barely noticeable. Proper preparation, proper materials, proper conditions, proper finishing / sealing / maintenance.
Concrete is more reliable than asphalt.
Asphalt requires general maintenance like sealing and crack repair.
Removal of oil, grease, etc is easier on concrete
Smart move to get the driveway fixed before driving the M3 over it!
Hahaha. I knowwww. Kathy and I are looking at buying a second house so the car purchase is still going to have to wait.
Frost is lame, I found a clean black on black M3 with a blower for $7K and he didn’t buy it.
Right now asphalt should be much cheaper then concrete and its price is driven by the cost of oil. I personally like blacktop better, but if it isn’t significantly cheaper then concrete, go with the concrete.
You can seal your driveway yourself pretty cheaply if you want to put in a days worth of work.
