Finally after six years of stones...

we got the driveway paved tuesday. 3000 sqft worth.

I have yet to drive on it. I can hardly wait to not have fn stones in our shoes, garage, yard, house etc.

Eventually the part to the left will be extended back another 75’ or so when I finally find the money to build my pole barn.

EDIT: Now I need to go around the whole damn thing and taper some dirt way out into the lawn and reseed. Joy.

Dan

very nice.

How soon do you think it will be before you actually start up the pole barn?

Realistically within the next 3-5 years. Cailey starts school next september, so that will free up almost $1k/mo I can use to get shit paid off. Then barn time. What I want is gona be $20-25k easy. oof

I remember living at home as a kid and having to shovel our stone driveway that was at least twice as long as yours. It was such a great day when we got it paved.

^ I def wouldnt envy that. Shoveling 200+ feet of driveway …

My neighbor plows us so I just have to deal with putting the stones back in the driveway in the spring. Luckily he has a nice Kubota I borrow (well used to I guess) to put them back with.

Dan

If it was over a foot we’d have it plowed, otherwise shovels it was. Meh, I hated it then but now I wouldn’t change a thing. Growing up on a tight budget teaches you a lot.

^ that is def true.

I know you don’t want to hear this now but, using concrete for the first 20 feet or so from the garage is the way to go.

Nice though, I wish I had a paved driveway.

Yep, that would have been sweet. Only so much money to go around though. I will def do that in front of my barn, someday.

Ok… why? Something I never really thought or learned about. Where I grew up everyone had asphalt driveways or stone, unlike the burbs here where everyone has concrete.

i know you’re old but didn’t know you went back to the great depression era

just got our driveway done, it was only 300$ more for concrete.

Concrete in front of the garage is nice if your parking there all the time etc. Eventually the blacktop compresses and you get dents from tires. You dont get that with concrete.

I def wouldnt have done the whole driveway concrete. Id think for a drive my size it would cost considerably more. Just the conrete aloe would have been like $3700. I paid $4400 to have this paved.

Dan

My rents had their driveway paved 15 years ago. My mom and dad both park their 4500lbs+ cars in the same spots everyday with no “dents”. I’m guessing it would have to do with how thick its put down and how stable your base is?

also… Jacks don’t sink in hot concrete.

also… When you get out of your car on asphalt your shoes get black on them and if you are lazy like me you sometimes wear your shoes in the house. My kitchen floor turned yellow/brown in my old house from the asphalt.

^ that too.

Anyway. Im happy its not stone anymore.

Dan

I hear you, mine is #2 crusher run, the stones are so big you twist your ankle walking on the.lol

looks great! nice upgrade.

:word: Some people just don’t understand.

Who did it?

And for those of you who think concrete is way more… not compared to how much more it used to be. When oil went up, blacktop went wayyy up. Concrete barely moved. Look into it before you take the plunge.

Mine will get done next year for tax return time. Concrete in barn and front (probably) and blacktop for the rest…

looks 100% better
