New Driving Laws for Our Shit Hole Province

I agree that it’s really stupid. (The law about not having more than 1 passenger) But like I said, life is unfair.

If it’s the law, there’s nothing we can really do.

It’s always thanks to a few bad apples that ruin it for everyone though.

Yes, however, not all those bad apples are under the age of 21.

Like josh said, it was the FATHERS son. Should he not have been taught better? or possibly came to real sense?

It doesnt take much to realize your to drunk to drive and drinking and driving is definatly not tollerated with.

But come on…not allowing someone under the age of 21 to drive other people under the age of 21 around. Has anyone perdicted the effect this may have on businesses? I mean how many times do you see a 21 year old or younger driving a company vehicle around? Look at casino’s, private property or not, people are still being driven around in valet…

What about school bus drivers? I have a friend who is 20 and she drives a school bus around as a living, and she even has a daughter…

What about construction workers? Who are the guys who build our bases? Who are the ones tough enough to drive hours on end to get to a job site? I’ve got tons and tons of friends in construction right now who have to drive out of toronto on a daily basis, carrying 2 others under the age of 21…

This will not pass, it can’t. Its got to much at stake, for our entire community. Not to mention this WILL 100% over populate our roads, causing MORE of an issue.

This dude bitched a fuckload and got what he wanted. If we all bitch back people will listen. If we sit back and shit on ourselves saying “Welllllllll life sucks”

… Of course nothing is going to happen.

Again, on the subject of this father’s logic and idiocy… He wanted TO SUE THE HOTEL because they let his TWENTY YEAR OLD SON drink.

WTF?

Josh, you of all people know what shit i’ve been through.
I’m sick of it,
…my dad knows it, and you know who hes familiar with…

Hes already been hassled for shit like this…i know my family is not in support of this law.

EDIT:

I’m so sick of all these bullshit targets…I thought we make people in charge of things like this so we don’t end up with this kind of solution.
If one person can complain to get this done, why can’t many people complain to un-do something so idiotic?

jpod, be the first to go ahead with a protest then. And hopefully others will follow you.

But I agree with Martino on this, I somehow don’t think that this will actually pass…

There’s too many cons to this and it will raise environmental issues due to less teenagers carpooling.

oh yea, environmental issues. hahaa, well hopefully they use that so it doesn’t get passed.

I’ve already e-mailed McGuinty. Thing is, one e-mail won’t do much and neither will just me. I don’t have the head start the father did by having the media from his sons death to spread the word himself. I would need strength in numbers, and a lot of people who tend to disagree and get all upset about this kind of stuff are too lazy to do anything themselves.

Pretty much their contradicting themselves on emission standards, technically.

I mean was the plan in the beginning of every hassle not to make our environment better?

This will only make things worse…
I highly doubt it will pass, HOWEVER! We can’t stand and brush this off our shoulders just yet. We all know just how much the government cares about us right?

There has to be something we can do to at least give us some backbone against this no?

If you can get enough people and make a big enough stink and do it RESPONSIBLY (not LOLPROTESTOMGBREAKWINDOWSANDSCREAMFORICECREAM) and have a great platform/argument, you can do anything. If you can publicly make the government look like retards, they’ll do w/e they can to make you like them.

1)It’s probably in Junk Mail.

  1. Emailing is the lazy way. You have to go with snail mail. Write a letter like that guy did.

  2. If you are under 21, read number 4.

  3. I’m going to assume that you haven’t gotten a speeding ticket and that for some reason, you often carry more than one passenger in your car. If you haven’t gotten a ticket and you carpool often, then you have your headstart.

  4. You’re welcome.

We need to, and we should.
Its been far to long since someone other than a victims father/mother has done anything.

They can do it, why cant we?

No one said you can’t.

People are just lazy to actually do anything.

Snail-mail and e-mail are the same shit. They both get read by an assistant and respond in a half-assed template design.

The only reason this dude got his way so easily was cause he had the media to help him because of his sons death.

If he was just some guy who thought things needed to change, he would have gotten the same template design assistant read e-mail/letter.

Thanks?

Does no one have a connection?

who wants to go down to city hall and protest?! im sure if we bitch as much as that stupid father we can get rid of this thing.
i know all you york students are off right now. who wants to make the signs?

Lol, that york protest is a joke.
Im at Seneca@york and they all start arguing with me when I say my tuition fee isnt something im worried about…its weather or not i get my education out of that tuition fee.

Never worked in a bar thn eh? The liquor license states that as a licensed establishment you are responsible for your patrons well being.

31 drinks over a three-hour period at a restaurant in Port Carling.

Unfortunately that seems like over serving and he has a right to sue not all people have the mental skills to drink.

I had some guy on saturday threaten to sue me (I work at a bar) because he got kicked out. He said we used unnessary force. He then decided to stand nose to nose to me and spit in my face while talking to me. After about 10min I gave up telling him to leave and removed him from the premises via arm bar. He then went across the street and shouted at myself. A few patrons that were outside then decided to go acorss the street and beat the shit out of him. Now he is sueing the bar for not doing anything. Yes he will lose but it doesn’t stop people from being stupid.

Moral of the story laws not only protect law abiding citzens but they also allow dumb peoples mistakes to be paid for by currency.

Adrian

I’m down, but I think a protest is a little overkill. We need to organize a petition, design a solid argument with plenty of points/rebuttles so we can discredit this father.

We then take all our arguments/petition, and if we have enough signatures we will get attention. You can’t just go into this with arguments you posted on SON. You need more than that.

Well, depending what drinks they had, thats about 8 drinks each over 3 hours, which is around 3 per hour. To be honest, if you AREN’T driving afterward, that’s a decent night out and not TOO bad. I’ve had way more at a party and still had room for more (mind you I knew my limit and stopped). So in that case, overserving? IMO, no. The liquor board could look at that differently but every body is different. They may have been just your typical drunks that night but noone knew they were driving.

It was up to them to designate a driver to drive them home or take a cab.

EDIT: I’m assuming that they were beers.

EDIT: Also, it’s the driving portion that killed them, not the overserving. You are over the limit after only like 2 beers within an hour iirc. So… That’s a sort of moot point seeing as they shouldn’t have been driving regardless the amount they had…

i think petitions are a lost cause. the government listens to people that are willing to be heard. signatures arent the way to do that. Im going to try and write a blog or something along those lines and get it published in a newspaper. im really willing to try anything to get this resolved. theres no reason for everyone to be punished over this guys drunk son…

one strike rule will litterally ruin peoples lives.
