New from the US

My name is Joe Live in the mitten state (Michigan) US

Own a RHD 97 Mirage with a Evo conversion. not all the way done tho.

care to share details about how US guys get RHD cars registered down there?

I’ve seen several so i know it can be done, just not sure how

Mine was a conversion, Besides Converting following the 25yo rule is one way the other is illegal.

There are only a hand full of cars on the approval list 90% of them are already over 25 years old so the list is useless. The US has cracked down on Imports down to the fact were even Clips with engines are no longer allowed they have to be imported sepretly or its considered a CAR and has to follow the same guidelines.

PICS!!!

The car is a Mutt lol, Its a Evolution IV front clip welded to the Mirage CJ4A Chassis. the Evo IV clip was modded to fit Evo 5 fenders to do Evo 5 body all around for the wider track. I have yet to complete this.

Its power plant is a 2.5l Twin turbo V6 out of a 8th gen Galant VR4. Im soon to be switching over to a 4G63 due to the rarity of parts on the ( 6A13TT )

If you want to see the whole conversion process go here http://mirageforums.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=39048

so an actual cut and weld???

i didnt know people still did that… especially not to a unibody car. wouldnt it have been easier to just get an Evo 8/9?

Yep cut and weld, If done correctly on Unibody it will be stronger as there is more steel. only problem is it changes the crush points but its no big deal.

No its not cheaper Conversion plus car = less then 8K if done yourself Evo 8 with 80K Miles will run 18K$ US and who knows if it was thrashed on.
