something seems off about this car
It really doesn’t matter. For about $1500 you can convert to standard.
Is there any way to really prove that this car is 100% legal? I’d hate to buy this and then have it seized like 6 months later.
Yeah it’s seems a little fishy.
Not bad… but there’s gotta be something going on with this car
Hooked on 240 will come in and bash the FUCK out of that car…garunteed.
Yeah, he’ll say how he only wants an R32 or something :

r33s are street legal. they are the only skyline that is under 25 years old that is.
R33 is no different than an R32 or R34 in terms of legality… and R33 has to be legalized once imported to be streetable. “Legalized” as in, in order to get a US VIN they must have impact bars behind the front and rear bumpers and in the doors, Pass emissions, and have safety glass. the only exception on not legalizing imported cars for street use is if the car is here on “temporary importation” wich allows the car to be street driven for 3 years then it must be exported, OR if its imported for racing, it is allowed in the states for up to 5 years, after that it must be exported or destroyed. So yeah in other words, for an R33 to be streetable it has to be legalized in order to get a US VIN and title to be streetable
theres a lot i left out, here a link if you wanna read up on it
no, not at all. it use to be that way, but the dmv & customs caught on. you can not legally import an r32 or r34 into the us, only an r33. and ones that are 25 years old at least. this is why people have been having there skylines siezed and told they can reimport them when they hit the 25 year mark. yes u have to convert things to become us street legal but if an r33 is already registered you will be able to re-register it without customs knocking on your door, do the same thing with an r34 or r32 and you will not be having fun in the coming months. they are black listed. there is a reason the owner of motorex went to jail and fucked up the skyline game big time. i have done pleanty of research, i almost bought an r32 to daily drive last year. and if you buy one that already is titled, u just need to do a little bit of lying to get insurance, and hope you never get caught. but now that dmv is looking out for them, thats not the biggest risk anymore.
the deal with Motorex was that they lied about the crash tests that they had proformed. Inorder for a car to be imported and legalised, crash testing has to be done, motorex lied about the crash test results and got caught. When they got caught that was a problem at the time because they were the only company doing leagalization of R34s at the time. There Are now other US companies, that did crash testing on skylines and they are licensed to legalize the cars, so yes, you can still legally own and legalize a R34 or R32. Now if you want to import a car and not legalize it, thats a whole other story… A car isnt considered a motor vehicle if there is no motor or drive train in it when it comes to the states, its considered an assemblage of parts, you can import that easy and swap US vins on it… Not legal persay but its done more than youd imagine. theres a guy in NJ with an R33 that has a VIN from a wrecked S14… its registered and insured as a S14 240sx… but if you get caught fucking with vins, youre fucked
Everythign elliot said was correct…
And like he said R32’s and R34’s were blacklisted, IIRC after motorex they banned R32’s and R34’s from coming into the US regardless of crash testing or not to avoid another incident like motorex. It doesn’t matter if the crashed 30 of them and brought them all to legal specs, they’re still blacklisted
I could be wrong but thats information i read maybe 4 months ago?
Yes they were “black listed” due to improper crash testing done by motorex… Since the crash tests were lied about, that meant they werent legal for use on US roads… Since another company did crash testing on the cars, NHTSA recognizes the cars as being street legal once legalized. And crash testing has everything to do with it, that was the reason for them being black listed in the first place. If a car was blacklisted you wouldnt be able to get a US title for it because of NHTSA, however thats not the case with skylines, you can still get them titled. But you are both right, at a point and time they were black listed
I was just stateing an official document i read a few months back, ill try and dig it up
but it said there were no exceptions untill the cars were 25 years old, they would not be allowed in the US weather or not crash testing was done… except for the R33 obviously
