Hi all, my names Corey. Im originally from syracuse but now moved to the buffalo area to go to the University at Buffalo. I own a '09 Dodge Charger R/T and one turd of a civic ('97 HX). I also recently went out for some chinese food and came home with a '97 240sx for a project. here they are
Welcome!
Welcome! Whereabouts in Syracuse are you from?
Welcome!
Whats in store for the 240? please tell.
Herro.
Marcellus, little bit outside Syracuse but i just say Syracuse because no one knows where Marcellus is.
As far as plans for the 240, I bought the car with 88k on it in fine mechanical condition but it needed some body work and the exhaust was almost falling off. So within the past few weeks I repainted it and ordered a new exhaust system (kept gettting pulled over by Amherst PD). So for right now i will probably just throw some coilovers on it, drive it, and learn to drift a little bit on the stock KA. Long term plans are leaning towards an RB? maybe, although im not sure so any opinions/advice are appreciated. Im a bit of a No0b on nissans (raised on chevys, fords, and american V8s lol)
Well if you were raised on those then do what you know best and put a V8 in it.
Nice, I’m very familiar with that area. I grew up in Amherst, then moved out here after college and lived in Camillus for a year before moving closer to downtown Syracuse. So did you attend Marcellus HS then?
hey corey
.
IF only i had the time, money, tech skills/knowledge, to pull the 5.7L hemi out of my charger, drop it in the 240, then get a bigger engine for the charger. but yea an LS swap has crossed my mind a few times. If i come accross one for a relatively good price i just may have to go that route.
yupp, went to marcellus, although sometimes i wish i lived in camillus and went to west genesee. I almost live closer to west genny than marcellus anyway.
Yeah Camillus is a nice area. One of my good friends used to live in Marcellus, just down the street from the school. We used to ride a bit together while we both had our bikes, his was a nice Aprilia.
You can get an LQ4/9 for under $1,000 bucks complete long block.
ever ride down the gorge road? Its the road that basically connects mainstreet marcellus to camillus, fun little stretch of twistys.
Coincidence, i was just searching around for engines and found what i believe is an LQ4 for sale, from a 1999/'00 with cast iron heads but its $2000. There’s so many options its hard to decided, regardless I better start saving my poor little college boy pennys lol
Start saving. There’s a ton of knowledgeable people on here when it comes to LS based motors. Just gotta be careful who would tune it, might have to make a trip to Rochester.
Whos good with LS motors in rochester? I know a friend of mine went to New Era with a camaro, so ive heard good things about them, I also know a few guys/places in syracuse who might be able to help me out with the tuning aspect. Id just really have to worry about makin it all fit right
Ah yes great little road to ride around on. Can get a little hairy with the tar snakes and gravel in certain areas but still a fun and scenic short ride.
