I’m in Troy and found this place via google when searching for local detailers. I just bought an 06 S2000. It has these spots on the hood that I can’t get out–tried washing, claying, waxing, bug/tar remover and even rubbing compound. Took the car to Number One Autobody in South Troy a few days ago and was told it was tree sap and the hood will need a full respray. :eek2
I’m guessing the previous owner/dealer parked it under a tree and then let it bake in the sun. Anyway, I’m not comfortable with a porter cable/buffer yet. I thought before I go the expensive and drastic route of a respray I would see if there was anyone local who was experienced with paint correction and could maybe help me out? I need someone who has tackled serious defects like this (sap, scratches, swirls, etc). As I said, I already tried the obvious things.
I will pay well for quality work. PM me or something.
Wow… I wish there were more times that I could have said that. Black is such a pain… it’s only perfect for 10 seconds and then dust gets on it. I guess one has to see how bad the sap is.
PS… Just read the first post. I want to see this S2k, but looks like alot of the s2ki guys are saying respray
Thanks guys for your responses and PMs. I also posted on Craigslist asking for a paint pro but judging from the messages/spam I’ve received from there, I’d sooner trust one of you guys on my car. Things are a little busy this week and into next but I’ll probably be contacting one of you pretty soon.
Whoa it’s Steve-o! Didn’t know you posted here. Man your 240 is sick. Silvia front end? I can’t handle the JDMness.
Here you go bro. It’s an 06 in silverstone over black/red. Stopped today on a quiet road for those exterior shots. Once the weather looks up I’ll do a proper photoshoot. CR sidemarkers and front bumper-plugs are on order (anyone know the penalty for running without a front tag?). I’d also like to get a hardtop next year.
Haha yeah I’ve been on here for a little while. Nice car though, wow! I always liked the look of the S2ks with the long hood ect, but never understood why they just couldnt put a nice straight 6 motor in it, all that room in the engine bay goes to waste with the airbox! :lol
Needs to be painted man, The $500 that guy quoted you isn’t bad, but i would want my fenders blended also and not just the hood done. It may look ok with just having the hood painted, but silver/Grey metallics usually suck for a good color match. Good luck with whatever you do, that car is beautiful!
Looks like a clean 06 bro. Nice color combo as well. Check out the Upstate NY forums on S2ki.com. There are a few s2k owners, including myself and DC2Nick that post on there.
