New Info on Air Foil Bearing Turbo

sounds good in theory. only drawback i see is the controled test was done w/ turbine temps seeing 1200 degrees. typical gas engine will see 1600 degrees, or 33% higher temp loads. so how effective will the bearing be?

a 1200 degree turbine temp is like a part throttle temp, not a wot max load temp for most cars. hell, i cant think of any cars on wot that are going to be 1200 or less.

True but it is still in its hypothesis testing stage, proving that it is possible. I imagine in the near future it will be improved upon for Internal Combustion usage.

I think they require extremely clean air.
