what year ranger?
5.4 would be a tight fit in a ranger, those things are pretty damn big and heavy.
302 or 351 would be the way to go. 300hp would move a ranger around nicely

the ranger that i have is a 99 and i think that i am going to go with the 302 twin turbo charged engine with different rear gears. and a drop kit on it maybe a 5-4 with air bags but maybe not but deffinently the 302 twin turbo charged engine as soon as i get the money.
