No thanks for $58k.
meh :gay: $58K
lol.
seeing how none of you will ever afford to buy one i guess it works out well that you guys dont like it.
i think it looks pretty hOt
This discusion reminds me of an episode of Sports Car Revolution (or a similar show)…
They were test driving an Elan , early 60’s. Beautiful car, 1500 lbs, great handling, ect. ect. I was wondering, WTF happened to cars like these? All those wonderfully light Brit roadsters… Then they brought it up again, THIS was the early 60’s, the birth of the muscle car era.
Whatever, just proof that American ignorance is ever lasting.
As for this car, 2190 pounds is amazing these days. 200 hp is more than enough to move it. “Refined”, well if that is the market they are going for. $58k? I guess it comes down to how the driving experience compares to a Carrera or M3.
Personally if I had the $58k I would hunt down an Elan GT 1,250 lbs and 140 hp. And have enough left over for a 4,100 lb Dodge Charger with a HEMI yo!!! :bloated:
:lmfao:
Agreed, however, both the M3 and the Carerra are much better looking automobiles. I think they also do better at this niche than the Lotus is.
If I were going to buy a Lotus, it’d be an Elise, or an Exige when they become available, not a fattied up version. Just my $.02.
I agree. This confirmed to me that I don’t need to be a member of this forum. I’m out.
See some of you around.
Correction: The article says it does 0-160 km/h in 14 seconds. That is NOT the 1/4 mile. If you compare this to an Elise (search google for it), you’ll see it runs a slow 0-160 km/h time (~17 seconds).
This car is hot. If it handles anywhere near what the Elise does, it is worth the $58K.
I’m sure that’s very gearing dependant.
I’d think the Elise to have much shorter gears than the Europa, although I"m too lazy to look it up
Better looks is purely subjective. I’m not even sure if it’s worth the money either yet, not that we will anytime soon or at all, if that. I like it so far, and the projected #‘s it’s putting out. Should be a nice car, and it completes the line-up which was Lotus’ intent from the start: A GT car that’s light and quick but not as bare-bones as the Elise/Exige. Hopefuly now they’ll finish up the new Esprit…that will def. be in America…
i kinda like it, its different than the normal cars you see on the road today, they all look the same.
i think its ugly.
OMG its got a GM engine!!! everyone hate it now!!
personally i would rather take the GM version

(and yes i know aside from the engine they are completely different cars)
58k??? Atleast its better looking than the old ones for sure, and the weight is damn impressive, but personally id rather take a hemi and with the left over cash grab a solstice for turning, yo :bloated:
:word:
I’m actually more surprised that people don’t find this car fairly un-Lotus like.
It’s not that I can’t accept it not being as raw as the other two stable mates, but it lacks the suave styling and thoughtfulness. It looks thrown together.
I could accept when it wasn’t a Lotus designed car (enter the Carlton and Cortina) but this really is sloppy. This car is the Cayenne or X-Type of the Lotus line up–good for sales, possibly detrimental to image. Having this car is better than having no Lotus at all, even though I really think it’s for people that should be driving a Mercedes CLK.
Does anyone remember the original Lotus Europa?(You guys are probably too young)
I know a guy that has 3 of them.
They are unique looking.
And ridiculously short.
It is very different than what I expected, I will say that…
I’m still not sure how I feel about it totally, I do like it, but I have some reservations about it, like engine, design, weight even. I mean the Toyota engine was proven in the Lotus range, and a TRD S/C’ed version of it in that car with a sub 2000 lb. heft (which I fully believe they could have done with this car), and some sleaker, cleaner lines maybe even…that all would be nice. Just my $.02.
STRAIGHT LINE PERFORMANCE ARRRRRRR
GIVE HER A V8
