I don’t think it’s silly from a development standpoint, but this is how I feel from a purchasing standpoint, lol.
Bump, will be shown in Tokyo this week. Oh and it’s a rotary…
Speaking to Autocar, Fujiwara said: “People think rotary can not meet modern Eco demands. The SkyActiv engineers worked on rotary and have it cutting edge tech. It is an essential part of our DNA and it just be passed onto future engineers. It is synonymous with the brand. Some time in the future it will return and be called SkyActiv-R”
I want another FD
That is all
I would like to just own an FD, still hasn’t happened. I’m also a fan of this being rotary (probably the only) just because it’s true to the roots of the RX-7.
I’m not gonna lie. I was super-stoked this morning when I heard the official announcement that the rotary is back! I am really interested in seeing what types of advancements will be contained within the Skyactiv-R over the earlier rotaries. I am kind of bummed that if this coupe makes it to the US, it will probably be out of my price range.
Like I said, it’s no FD.
I can see where they possibly incorporated ideas of the FD in the rear but, absolutely not in the front. Headlights are tiny little slits.
Trying to picture it once they neuter the concept car out of it… Much smaller rims, much larger fender gap, a front end that would actually pass the 5mph bumper laws etc.
It is a great start, but we’ll see what it really looks like come production time…
Reminds me of a Maserati. Looks damn good!
Such a great looking concept. And if Mazda was able to make the new MX5 happen, I can see this thing looking great once it hits production.
RX9?
i feel like the doors need something to break up the huge body panels. I love that shape though.
Since I saw these pictures a couple days ago, I have been thinking about this concept a lot…further thought has me believing the hood should be a little shorter…I def. get and approve of the long hood / short deck design, but this might be a bit too long…
Looks promising, must be some major breakthrough in rotary technology if they are going to bring it back with all the new efficiency standards that are out. Wankels were never very fuel efficient.
I found myself loving rotaries again after following that drift dude madmike. He has some fucking awesome cars.
Offtopic kinda, but whatever.
