New project, 2000 Audi a4 1.8t

After seeing the before pics, I’m even more impressed with the transformation. Keep up the good work. BTW, looks like autocross will be moved to Sunday this weekend if you want to come.

yeah it took a little while to un-seize the collars but other than that, they went in pretty simply & ride great.

Since I got the A4 low & put the rims on, I’ve been focusing on small details. So far I’ve: bought a test pipe (not in yet but will be soon), used some rustoleum chrome paint to make my mirrors look like the polished b5 s4 mirrors, new NGK Platinum spark plugs & bought a euro plate. Also, she just hit 160k last weekend (4/9/11). Aside from the inlet hose on the diverter valve popping off in Clifton Park on my way home from German AP, she’s been running great, especially w/ the new spark plugs. Once the test pipe is in, I’ll finally put a video up of how she sounds. Sorry for the crappy pics off my blackberry & no the pic of the europlate is not where the euro plate is actually mounted.

You can kinda see the mirrors, I’ll get a better pic up soon.

Looking good man, sounds good too! I was considering getting one of these myself

Looks real nice! I like these cars, I just can’t get over how slow they are. LOL

Thanks man. No regrets on getting this. Much better than my 3.0 3g eclipse for sure.

Lol, yeah we’re working on making her a little faster. I got a forge turbo inlet hose coming, n75 j valve & hopefully getting it chipped in a few weeks. Should help a little bit

Anytime, I’ve heard from several people the 1.8t’s have a much better reputation than the 2.8s for these cars as long as they were properly maintained. I’ve heard mixed opinions on these b5’s they can be the best car ever for some, yet break all the time for others.

I still really want to get one of these but having zero physical experience working on cars in general makes working on German cars even more difficult so I’ve been told.

This has 162k on it. Bought it w/ 153k. Only work I’ve had to do that aren’t mods are: breaks had to be bleed b/c i got some air in the lines, new axle (125 dollars) & i had to replace the flasher relay (65 dollars from the stealership). Other than that I just change the oil every 3k. I live in glenville hills & drive it 60 miles a day to HVCC. Every snow storm I drove it to school w/ out snow tires, not 1 problem. She’s 1 hell of a car, absolutely love it. Not the fastest car going but it serves the purpose for me. My friend Jordan has basically the same car that I do, only his is blue & an 01 & he loves his too & had to do bout the same maintenance that I have. We both bought our cars bone stock from older people, which helps. They really aren’t too hard to work on. I’m going to school for Auto & once you get into them, they really aren’t too bad, just some stuff takes a little longer to do. Like removing the headlights :banghead.

Fair enough, that’s not bad at all. I know someone with one of these who had to pretty much replace everything on the car especially with the motor because things were always breaking on him. Guess it all just depends on the previous owner, older people having owned them definitely helps a lot.

I think the only thing really keeping me from taking a leap and getting one of these is that I just didn’t want to end up in over my head and not be able to learn how to fix the car since I planned on using one for a daily driver fixing everything myself and just a few mods pretty much exactly what you’ve done to yours and just going all out on a separate project car. Thanks for the input man, definitely looking forward to seeing what else you’ve got planned for yours.

Since my summer vacation has just started & my birthday is in a few days, I decided to buy myself some early birthday presents & give myself a little project to do while I had some down time. So I stopped by German Autoparts & picked up an N75 J Valve & then picked up a Forge Turbo Inlet Hose from a guy on Vortex (figured a red 1 would look decent & while getting a little performance/quicker turbo spool). Took me about an hour & a 1/2 to do everything which I thought was decent considering the write I was reading said it took the guy 3 hours. A friend & I took it out on Rt 5 & through the hills of glenville. I’ve noticed some lower end torque gain, no more surging & the turbo seems to spool faster. I’m very happy with it & aside from installing a boost gauge, I think it’s safe to say that project Naudi has reached it’s end. Now, time to keep driving her daily & save up for the next toy.

Sweet that’s always a good thing, definitely a perfect daily now. What do you plan on getting next?

Thanks. I have no idea what I’m getting next. I’d like to find a 2g gsx eclipse but they’re pricey & either heavily modified or trashed. Maybe a honda crx, or an older rx7. I just want a 2 doors that’s light, has a strong aftermarket for, can be done nicely on a budget & something to work on for the long term. So we’ll see. Never know what deals will pop up this summer

Your gonna love the stage 2 tune. Plenty of usable power, its awesome. Have you considered unitronics? I guess people prefer it with the 1.8t motors. Personally i wouldnt know but thatsnwhat i hear
