New Project, 57 Chevy Inside (56k GTFO)

atleast you didnt up and sell it, so many projects go out like that

Crap, you still got that thing? Haven’t seen anything from you in a while.
I told you to sell it to me way back when.

Need a Forever Restoration sticker for it?

I want this

 wagons rule

meh, nomads are way cooler imo

And 3x the price.
Lowered, shaved, and fast. I’d take a Nomad first, but wagons are more common. Hell, I’d even take a Sedan Delivery.

Well, its been awhile since my last update, but I had a ton of shit go on in the past year that has kept me from doing anything to this pig. So here is a small update…I had the body blasted by Jesse at Blast Off (suzukiriderman) and I highly recommend him. He did a fantastic Job, in a short amount of time…for a VERY reasonable price, and bent over backwards for me in a pinch, by lending me his trailer to get it home. so   to him!

The bad news is, there is a shit ton more work now that everything is revealed…like finding out I now need at least 1 whole new rear quarter. Its no surprise though, very common problem areas. Nothing some new tin and a welder cant fix. Also, revealed a crap ton more of my fathers handy work from 38 years ago and the previous owners handy work as well lol. They did things a lot different then. They didn’t care, they just wanted to drive them. Now I am the one paying for it lol.

Note the yellow spots…good old brazing at it’s finest.

I will be ordering some tin in the next couple weeks…but I’m not going to do anything until I have ALL the tin I need…1 piece floor, rockers, a whole new trunk etc etc. It will get there.

Wow. Goodluck.

 to you for still wanting to continue with this build.

its honestly, not That bad. It could be much worse.

^Oh, I know, i too have seen far worse…that rear quarter was a shocker…my dad didn’t even know about that one. lol. oh well, thank god they make every panel out there for this thing. Im not giving up on it, thats for sure.

Are you restoring all those vintage, aftermarket gauges?

no, I’m not using any of them. I had an inquiry on the tach, but have to find it.

on a side note, just priced out all the tin i need and it comes in at around $4k. give or take a couple hundred. yikes. lol

One piece at a time. Is your garage heated? Cause it’s gonna need to be :stuck_out_tongue:

finishing the insulation on the garage today…The natural gas heating unit will be installed in about 2 weeks.

Great. I’ll be over with my fastback come December

I think you should reuse the “FLAMMABLE” Sign somehow. Part of the car’s history.

lol…sorry, no Ford’s allowed. think im just going to take the sign and hang it in the garage.

Well its been a while, but i have been back at it and have a crap load of updates. All of which occured in the past 2 weeks or so.

I made the decision to source out a new frame since mine was pretty much shot. A few weeks ago, i drove to Ohio and picked it up. it was a complete roller, with 6 cyl engine. since i only wanted the frame, i sold off everything i didnt need, and actually made a couple hundred.

First, I stripped it down, cut off all of the unwanted bracketry, fixed a few minor problem areas then I had Jesse blast it for me. after it was blasted, i shaved some of the unwanted holes and went ahead and installed a tubular x-member which includes a trans mount (not pictured)…

Also, my BBC engine mounts came in.

then i refit the doors and braced the body so I can start replacing the rust.

Then i started cutting.
First the back seat brace removed.

Then i went on to remove the entire inner quarters, wheel tubs and outer wheel houses…

New ones installed…

and a shot showing both sides in…

finally, just a small pile of the junk i removed…

Then finally, last night, i got the main floor out.

The floor going in is a 1 piece. I hope to have it in, this weekend. as well as the 1 piece trunk floor. Then, i will refit and allign everything, and weld it all for good. then will come the rear quarters, tail pan, and rockers…which i have already.

Hey hey, lookin’ good

I was thinking about this build earlier, and was going to bump the thread

awesome progress

Looks like so much fun- I need to learn to weld better.

I need a place to weld too I suppose…
