New to this whole NECC think '04 Spec V

Why would you do that? You’d have to be a pretty hamfisted driver to mis-shift a Spec 6-speed.

Louis, you haven’t met Kris yet have you? J/K Kris likes drama and making easy things sound difficult, but he’s a good help.

Ha ha ha…thanks man.

Not sure how I misshifted actually, but I’ve done it at least twice in the last little while. It’s actually missing the gear though, I’m not forcing it into too low a gear or anything. I have to look at my short-shifter and see if that is causing the problem - only happens when I drive hard.

Oh well, everyone else in the club seems to think I drive like a grandma…so what’s the difference? :E

EDIT: Short shifter looks OK. I think I might have just rushed the shift and missed the gate. The Spec doesn’t EXACTLY have the smoothest gear changes known to man. (Insert Ricer Excuse here. :D)

It will if you switch to Royal Purple Synchromax, and grease your shifter bushings like I did yesterday. Shifts feel 10x better.

I know I need to. I was planning on going with the 50/50 Redline MT50/MTL mix everyone seems to like on the Vboard, but I have the feeling that the Royal Purple will be much easier to find.

Funny, the tranny doesn’t give me any trouble at all unless I’m going WOT. Guess I should stop blaming the perfectly functional equipment and start blaming the real cause - everyone else.

Actually, I’m sure most of the problem is due to my lack of experience - this is my first manual car ever, I hadn’t ever driven another manual car on public roads before, or even out of second gear, and out of the ~9650Km on my car, I’ve spent 99.99999% of the time shifting to avoid excess wear to the clutch. Which is the exact opposite of what you do while shifting during a drag.

SPEC V Shifter < Stick in a bag of rocks.

I don’t know if MOPAC is in E-town but they have the Redline fluids at MOPAC here in Calgary. I’ve been meaning to make this switch as well.

Yeah, Mopac is here! I think they carry both brands, actually.

Funny enough, I loosened one of the set screws on the shifter just a little, and the shifts improved. I have no explanation for that one.
