just introducing myself. Just moved to Calgary about 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to getting to know some people and check out the scene. Kinda late in the season I know, but the car is still out yet for a few weeks I hope.
Nope, I think those are the infamous engine killing butterfly valves. They open at 5100RPM to allow a shorter intake runner path into the cylinders. They also throw the occasional screw in there.
Yeah those are the killer valves… right before I extracted them puppies. Don’t need any screws in my cylinders.
Building the engine over the winter. Well anothe rone anyhow. Hopefully will be abel to turn up the boost then next year and run 350+ whp. muwah ah aah aaaaaah
Thanks for the welcome guys. I look forward to some Nissan meets.
well I haven’t run mine yet, but a guy with the same kit has run a 13.10 so far and is hoping to get into the 12s this weekend. I have a few little finishing touches to make everything perfect for some spring runs. Of course I may have a rebuilt engien by then too if all goes as planned.
Of the ones available, you’d be paying anywhere from about $3400 to $5000 U.S. for the proven systems, depending on how hot you wanna go. But if you really wanna go fast, budget at least half that again for internals, because the rods in the QR25 just can’t handle crazy boost. You’ll apparently need beefier internals if you run above 8 Psi or 6 Psi with Turbo and NOS.
The main advantage of the turbo kits for the Spec is that they SLAY your average Civic turbo kit, at least in bench races.
The two main places to look are: www.fi-r.com - Forced Induction Racing, in Florida. Talk to Travis. www.powertechimports.com - Canadian company, talk to Jamie.
Of course, you can put together your own system if you want, but it’s a hell of a lot of work and you may not put all the best parts together. Unless you REALLY know what you’re doing, just don’t even bother.
So, run out of bolt ons first, before you start thinking turbo!
