New Turbocharged V6 on the loose

I can’t help it, too excited to wait for the owner to post.

So over the last week or so Big Steve and I shrugged off about 6 years of planning and procrastination and finally did the damn thing.

Big turbo, a few slick ideas thought of on the fly,a lot of custom fabrication piping on Big Steve’s part :pimp: , and some obstacles that were overcome (for a while, it was looking bleak), his car is complete. What we thought would take two days, took 6 days but that’s how projects go. Anybody with a big HP car knows the deal. It was cool to work on the project, learned lots of new stuff.

Here are some cellphone shots just before we fired it up.

We got it done, tested/street tuned and driven about 3 hours before the snow hit. Still need to smooth out some rough edges on the tune, and some EGR related changes (now that we have some ideas). Also want to redesign some of the piping (we just did what was necessary to get it running. There is room for better efficiency and a cleaner look). The car works, pulls great, and will be on the prowl with big meats come spring time :tspry:

I’ll let Big Steezy field the questions, and put up the good pics. Anybody that knows Big Steve or has seen his car already knows what kind of effort went into this build, and it is definitely top notch. :wiggle:

Big thanks to boardjnky4 for use of his welding machine on short notice

Guess I have to cut down on the fat guy in slow car jokes now and get my car together http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/scared/scared0016.gif

Damn Rick!! that looks badass!!

what kind of v6 are we talking about here?

mx3? 2.5 or 1.8

looks like a klze or k8de to me could be a probe

yea looks like a probe, or mx6 or even a swapped mx3

but wait. while you were building that, who was banning people?

Looks like a Probe to me

man i hope you like replacing transmissions

He won’t have any problems with the tranny that he isn’t prepared for.

Duratec? Looks like the UIM.

More please!

WOW … I havent seen Steve in a LONG time …

if it’s the same car … it’s a pretty hot probe

its still a G series transmission he might want to look into a welded msp lsd

glad you guys got that thing finished up. Looks awesome and glad I could help.

honestly, kudos for him to not giving up on that car. is he still running 20’s on it?

I remember looking at that probe back when I still had mine, and thats awhile back. IIRC that thing had rims on it that are worth more than the car itself.

Its funny seeing this post because I was thinking about building up a probe the other day. CZT built KLZE turbo with some sort of AWD set up (day dreamin).

 Good Luck with everything!

Thanks for the comments everyone. It was a fun install… although I was a bit skeptical. To answer a few q’s…

It is a Japanese spec engine 2.5ltr V6
It is a 1995 Ford Probe GT
The tranny is new
I’m the original owner :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s a better pic:

nice setup, but have you welded before?

-i ask because the welds on the exhaust mani are nice clean-beaded TiGs and the one on the charge pipe are doo doo brown MiG. u welded the charge pipe i assume?

as long as they hold and dont leak

Welding is my trade. Been at it for 14+ yrs. Certified…blah blah blah… you get the picture
I Tig welded the intake but, the small charge pipe is temp. I will eventually get around to fab’ing up an aluminum pipe. The mig welded pipe was pieced together just to get the car running.
