This lens is fucking sharp, sad to say its probably the best quality lens in my aresenal right now. Even wide open at 2.8 the center area is tack sharp, anything above and its just overall awesome. I can do lens correction and make the picture look perfect, but I somewhat like the small stretch affect as it gets to the outer edges
I washed the fit and really wanted to shoot with it aside from a couple backyard shots I took.
First 3 are with the tokina, last one was just messing with the 35-105 Tamron I have.
No post processing, camera set to vivid for a little extra “pop”
Just played with one of these on a guys 5d ii yesterday at rally ny. Amazing really for a super-wide zoom that’s fast and not too expensive. If I wasn’t jonesing for the 17-40l I might be considering this lens. Definitely on my short list, but I need more primes!
Should definitely be a fun challenge composition wise with the distortion, good luck and happy shooting!
I’m set on lenses for the moment, I MAY pick up an 85 1.8 if the person will let it go for a decent price, if he’s only asking 50 bucks off retail I’d rather just buy it new.
After seeing what Jim and a few others do with their 135 F2 I really really want to save my pennies for one. My father actually has one of the older manual 135 F2’s and I’d use it for the time being but we can’t find it anywhere. I was talking to him about it the other day and he goes “Oh yea, remember that lens you used on my camera years back in the bahamas, thats what that is” tore this house up looking for it and cant find it. Would be just fine for now shooting a car or a still subject, and its just as good/sharp as any of the new ones just manual focus and non AI-S
yep, it was more of a 14.5-16 on that body :lol Looked crisp to the corners on the full frame but they were getting dark around 14. Checked out the wider angle performance when I got home and was definitely impressed.
Yea it is, and as quatro said works fine on a FX so long as you don’t bring it under 14 or so. Hell you can use 11 too, just going to need to crop out the barell
I was freaking out between buying this and just buying all FX compatible lenses in case I ever upgrade, but I don’t see me ever going to an FX camera, and besides aside from this lens and 1 other most of the quality lenses I want are FX anyways.
Only thing I’d be worried about is if in the near future APS-C get phased out and everything goes FX
