New York State Rebuilt Title Question

I was looking at a rebuilt title vehicle in that was titled in new york state.
On the NY title at the middle right of the title it states Rebuilt title: FL

If i title/register the car would i have to go through the salvage examination? or does it title/register like a regular vehicle?
and
on the back of the title it asks about the car being wrecked etc. is that as of the current condition of the car or anywhere in the car history?

i had a rebuilt/salvaged title vehicle from california that i registered a few years back and i had to go down to get it checked out by nys

it will have to go through the nys salvage program. Theres a chance it will slip through but you’ll get a letter eventually calling you in.

He pauly, even if its already ny rebuilt title? Or it doesn’t matter? So basically any rebuilt/salvage/branded title being re-registered/titled will need to be examined again?

Is it less of a hassle if its already a rebuilt title? Like the car doesn’t have to go throught the reciept and all document process? It just needs to be visually checked by the dmv?

If its already been through the salvage procdess in ny then there should be a record of it and it should not have to repeat the salvage inspection. the local number to call to be sure is 826-1501

mine didnt matter… once it was already branded rebuilt it was just like registering a regular car

remember when someone hits this car, insurance is going to pay out like 52% of the value instead of 100% due to being a rebuilt.

stay away from salvaged cars, there is a reason they are cheap and nobody wants them.

^ disagree. My old man has been buying salvage cars for years, you just need to know what youre getting into.
BTW haws anyone checked out www.COPART.com cool site with salvage auctions on line

Pauly, is there a way to get the original vin# of a car that was issued a new vin (NY*****) from the state? The car doesnt have any original vins, assuming its been a stolen/recovery vehicle but wouldnt mind finding the full history of the car.

that is completely FALSE, i have rebuilt quite a few salavage cars. one i totaled and was paid the 100% value of the vehicles worth. also i am in the collision industry and i’ve never seen a salvage car get any less threw insurance for repair or buy out(total). Hense why i love building/driving/selling salvage vechiles ::slight_smile:

naaa they dont give that info out
