From my experiance , 04/07 duramax is the best out of the years . Great chassis trans etc . The 6.4 and 6.7 are good motors as long as the head bolt and emmisions updates have been done . If not walk away as to do heads and whatnot is a legit 48 hr labor bill on top off parts !!!I say that cause they all do it on the 6.4 . The Ford chassis and trans are great in em but fuel mileage sucks . The 6.7 so far seams to be a good motor but they have turbo issues along with trq converter issues . If it were my friend I would Stearns her towards a 04/07 max “besides that ya know someone that can tune it lol”
im kinda partial but ive put 70k on my lbz without any issues just normal maint/wear. no emissions and im getting 17-20mpg. my dad has a 05 lly and he tows heavy with his often and has no issues dmax is where its at!
^agreed. 70k miles on the 2005 and still going like a tank. I heard some of the pre 05 dmax had injector issues but I’m not sure how many fell into that.
I know nothing of the fords except that they are the backbone for one bad ass armored vehicle called the Gurkha
All the 01-04s had injector problems there was a 10 year 150k special policy on them and revised injectors so any truck in that year range should be ok in that department. Only issue to watch for is injection pump failure, just make sure you floor it atleast once or twice on the test drive. If there is a pressure issue a CEL will set.
good to know, i was unaware about the IP issues. thanks!
Waynes house has a good couple hundred foot burnout from my 170k mile duramax! I was worried about getting dually mud tire tracks on my hood before we left.
My injection pump blew out on mine at 120k in CT that may have been my fault by the diesel i was running, i replaced it with a upgraded one from d&w.
If I remember correctly you were running some interesting blends of fuel. Not such a good idea on a D-max they get very pissy as a result.
rofl watch out for Mr. big bad cummins!!
Bump.
older durmax’s injectors are under the valvecovers, and seen many of them come into the dealership with bad glow plugs. I would never tell anyone to buy a 6.0l ford, as far as the newer ones with big engine issues cabs gotta be pulled in most cases.
straight # 2- ran great
-my grandma makes more power than your truck…yea, i bet she does :lol
yeah mikes truck is a beast now with the tune and no DPF gayness. mileage is in the mid teens i guess too.
