OR RIGHT!
Made you forge the engine didn’t it?
Can you get the bottom end and transmission installed in the car in the meantime and put the head on later? I would think that’d give you a slight head start.
At least everything will be done right.
Maybe, but would probably be more work to do it that way. Installing the trans will be easy. I will have the head back by mid next week.
3 angle job?
Hurry up! If you don’t finish this by summer I have dibs on it over winter.
Porting the head? Or at least cleaning up the casting some?
You’re in it this deep…why not?
That’s a bummer…
sooo… what are you doing for the front drive axle?
newman, you really should fashion fake axles for the front. Just have them attach to some random location near the engine, and to the front hubs.
Thought about it, but not worth it. I’m running out of time first, money second…
Fair enough. Better to get it together and try to shake it down a bit this year…then tweak things over the winter.
Exactly. If the motor has to come back out, it’s really not a big deal… It’s not like a stock car where there is a ton of shit to remove. I think there are going to be a total of 5 vacuum lines in the whole car, no accessories… etc.
are you running any climate stuff, I’d think you’d want a defroster if nothing else.
That was the best part about getting Mark/NeonGLH’s '95 Neon set up. After he and I finished the swap, we simplified it down enough so that we could have the engine/trans out in an hour and back in in an hour and a half. Hell, we pulled it once just to make life easier to clean up and fix leaks in the turbo oil/coolant feed/return, rather than try to do it under the car.
not now. the exhaust passes right through the OEM blower location, will need to retrofit. Winter project, prob
ya, its really nice have a basic car. I made a heater for my camaro, its just a “defroster” I guess… blows up thu the dash vents on the windshield but heat up the car just as nice. Just a quite with the factory squirrel cage, and stock controls.
keep the progress coming, you’re getting there!
I had a little time tonight and put the windage tray, oil pickup and oil pump on.
Newman, I thought about the head situation, Maybe start looking for a head casting that you can send out and have it done right.
This way you can enjoy the car and it stays mobile the whole time the other head is being built.
Keep up the great work
