Newman's 1986 BMW 326rb build thread.

But at the same time, with how little the car weighs and how much power it will make as is, is it even necessary???..

I TOTALLY FEEL YA! obviously mines not as complicated as yours. went to install my tie rods today, advance gav me the wrong ones! went to install my msd dis II, cut the power wire in half on accident while walking with it in the garage, caught on the door handle, :banghead: ugh, it was suppossed to be done in may, not getting done in june, maybe itll be done when im 30

I like this

Nice fitment with the baffle plate.

And im sure its been said already, but what’s the block? Standard 05U or 24U N1?

Any work to the crank? These STD pieces once balanced will take 8-900 HP.

Double clicky!

Are you planning to run coolant lines to the turbo or just oil? Have you gotten that situation squared away yet?

It’s an 05U block. Wish it was the N1 block. Thinking back it would have been probably cheaper to buy an N1 and rework that. Oh well.

The crank has been sleeved and balanced.

Definitely both. It’s really easy though, there are ports on the block for both. I just unbolt the exiting Y banjo and replace it with a single baffle from ferry, which rules because banjo fittings are pretty cheap (and I can usually substitute a non metric size which is cheaper…)

true, much easier since it’s a factory turbo

lookin good christian. runnin by the weekend?

what did you end up doing with the rings

that alt. could use more polishing…

.

this weekend I pulled all the fuel lines and brake lines out, painted the holes I had drilled for the mounting hardware. I also added some mounts for the brake lines.

While i was under there, I had to put por 15 back on places where i had welded the seat rails in, because it had burned off.

I also installed the oil restrictor that I made in the block.

Lastly, I made brackets from 3/8 304SS to mount my new bigger front brakes, which arrived today (so did my wheel studs… FINALLY)

Here is the new 13" rotor (foreground), the old 11.75 rotor (background) and the new 6 piston differential bore caliper.

double post^^

brakes look great tho!

WHEEL STUDS INSTALLED. Love the “extended stud look”

New caliper on new bracket with OLD ROTOR

for reference, here’s where the old caliper sat:

awsome…this car is awsome how much more work do you have left till its road worthy

saw this and thought of the build
