I’ve had this inductive heating device for about 8 months and love it every time I use it. For small-ish bolts, say 8-10mm thread, this will heat them up to 1200 or so in about 30 seconds.
For this Craftsman wrench, it took about a minute

cool… do they cost a lot?
When I bought it, it was right at $700, but they can be had for closer to $500 now. An extra coil kit comprising of 10 different shapes and sizes of coils costs about $125
The whole time I’m watching the video I’m on the edge of my seat going “come on, bend it… BEND IT!” as if it were far more exciting than it was.
Anyone else?
Definitely cool, but way expensive. MAPP torch is just so much cheaper lol.
I was hoping for $13.99 after 20% off coupon at Harbor Freight
fuck, me too. no idea why either…
That works quite well!
I just skipped ahead to a little past one minute. I’m impatient…
Cool though. Not justifiable for me even at under $100 because I’d use it, well, never…
EDIT: I’d be looking around the house for shit to melt and bend…
How many times did you grab the tool with your hand before filming this video?
Awesome

It’s less expensive for my customers due to little collateral damage, especially around fuel lines and tanks.
Did you have to quench the wrench? It seems lke it would be super soft/weak if you didn’t.
Have you tried cookin hot dogs yet?
depends on the steel
You should buy your wrenches at harbor freight. Then you could heat them for like 3 seconds with a bic and snap them in half. Would save you a lot of money.
I did throw it into the wash bucket right after, so yeah.
I’ll post the hot dog video later
oh yeah, definitely a neat toy for a shop to have. it’s actually really badass that an electric tool can get that hot quickly.
Inductive heating is neat. It’s more fun using them with ceramics.
Until the susceptors melt.
