Evvvvvery spring we have a new rider come on, and we get into the ninja 250 battle. LOL
Its all about the rider. I can rip a ninja 250 (if rip is the word for it) down RT5 in my home town at 90mph, stand on the seat and wheelie it, grab too much front brake and tuck a tire, grab to much rear brake and slide the ass out, highside it, lowside it, target fixation and send it into a ditch… the bike doesnt matter. Its 40% the riders maturity level and self respect, 10% their skill, and 50% environmental variables like other drivers and conditions. Ninja 250, 626, Zx14, moped, or WR250X… doesnt make a lick of difference.
When it does, I’ll upgrade! :lol
And RocketPunch…idk if the bike is coming back to NY yet or if I’m gonna sell it down here before I leave, I’m already bringing at least one more car back with me so shipping more vehicles will just be a pain. By that point if I’m still on the 250 I’ll probably want to step up a bit anyway!
And I’ll be taking my bike permit test when I come back to visit, so I don’t have to go through the NY pain in the ass stuff and transferring my license/claiming residency.
Yeah if the rider is like me or you, but some people just want a point A to B bike.
I rode a 250 and was grinning ear to ear on it… More so becasue it was kinda funny to me riding it, but my honest opinion of the bike was still good. The clutch was idiot proof, the brakes, well, made it stop when it needed to, and it could lay a turn like any other bike. Suspension sucked, I would not want to hit a pot hole or raised manhold cover thats for sure. But it was a bike. It wasnt twist and go fast, but when it got to speed a good rider could make it work.
Doesn’t matter what bike it is. There all decent starter bikes if you know how to control them and not be a dumb ass. I agree with Dave pertaining to getting a 250. I have ridden my whole life tho so that maybe a good part of it. I my first street bike was a 600 and I got sick of it quick. It’s bad when your on the highway searching for another gear and there’s no more to get into…

My first bike was a brand new 08 r6. Picked it up and drove it home. First bike I ever owned. No motorcycle class either. I know I’m not the best rider, but I never gift anyone, myself, had an accident.
Seriously if you don’t have enough self respect or discipline for a 600 you got no business on any bike wether 50cc or 1000cc.
If he bought it cause its cheap and good on gas, fine cool. Otherwise its for chicks 100%.
I don’t know you kid, fuck off. I drive 100 miles a day to and from work and being able to spend <$5 on gas in a day/learning how to ride safely is why I got it.
