NickAlero's '98 CL

I’ll go a paragraph at a time in response to Krazy Kid’s Big post:

Its not so much the maintenance on the Alero setups, but I definitely see what you’re getting at, and you’re 100% correct. The GAGT is Spyhunter’s project car, however, the other Alero is run daily. The only way he is managing to keep cost of maintenance down is not boosting the hell out of it 24/7. He does not street race and keeps the boost at 6lbs for daily driving. When its track day though, its 19-24 lbs all day :rofl

You bring up a lot of good points in the last paragraph, and learning a little at a time is exactly what I have thus far enjoyed doing. Its nice knowing that while I can’t afford to play as much as I want to with my own projects, people who I hang out with can afford to and enjoy that I help them when I can. A little bit at a time for now definitely doesn’t sound like a bad idea, because when I start making bank and get something I want to play with, I won’t make mistakes with it that I may have otherwise.

As for the insurance situation, I am currently only working 5 months out of the year, since taking 20 credits at RPI and working 20 hours a week are not exactly a good pair. I pay for part of my own school as well, and when my parents and I talked about how we were going to get through a 52K/yr institute (since I’m NOT loaded by any means), we decided that keeping me under the insurance could save me money that I could put towards school, thus reducing the amount of loans I need and increasing the amount I can pay as cash to go here.

If I were to take out my own plan and have all the coverage I have under my parents plan, it would be around 400/month. I pay 80/month under my parents plan and have FULL coverage. So 320/month saved= 3520 that can be going to school, and that I can not have to take in loans.
Even if the number isn’t 400/month, its gonna be more than 80/month, and honestly, any savings helps me in the long run.

Get a Cobalt LS and put an intake and exhaust on it. Seems to be the trick to having a hopped up daily driver nowadays…

nice replies. Hands on knowledge is key, becasue anyone can search google and sound like they know what they are talking about. do work.

and word on the insurance under the rents. But do your self a big favor and take that money saved each month and PUT IT AWAY. When you grad, put half towards any debt you have and start paying back your loans, then the rest keep becasue until your 25 the insurance when your rents dump ya is going to be high on anything with colision… as you can see already from the quotes you have.

i was waiting for this lol

i think everyone arguing in this thread is dumb. just do something already.

Some things with loans came up for school, so the entire situation with the CL is on hold for now.

I got my 15.9 though tonight. 15.964 at 89.487.

After chipping my windshield on the way to my house to get my old lights, I decided to tint my stock turn signal lights. Literally no light output after tint. Guess its been a while since I’ve done something like this. Oh well.
Good thing I decided, while they were drying, to wire my turn signals into the main corner of the headlight. Now the bottoms are more of a show item then actually being functional. Pictures to come.
