[LEFT]When I originally made the post on NICO I think I stated that the car was a 95’, but it is in fact a 98’, which explains why you saw it with he kouki front. The parts we received at delivery were all Zenki, but we intend to replace them with proper Kouki components during the build. I would agree with some of your club members that the welds look terrible. But honestly I don’t care. As long as they hold up in a crash, that’s all that matters. In the “privateer” race shops, and shops where the driver is also the fabricator, engine builder, and primary sponsor, you’ll tend to see interiors that are all business and no flash. You’ll also see welds like we have on our car. It’s a great source of satisfaction when you drive a car that you built yourself. Even if the welds aren’t perfect, and some of the components aren’t top shelf. At the end of the day, it’s a race car, and it’s only purpose is to propel the driver down the track and around corners at a high rate of speed. All business, just like we like it!
The dash does have a plate that was made to cover the hole left by the airbag. We looked at replacing the dash altogether, but were informed by the competition director that as long as it is covered by a ‘workman like’ panel that it’s legal. Same goes for the doors. We do, however, intend to clean up everything so that it doesn’t ‘look’ like it was built by a twelve year old. Not sure how someone can make a determination about the quality or usefulness of a set of coilovers by looking at the top plate, but I can’t argue because I haven’t driven the car yet. I certainly hope they’re not junk! Ha-ha.[/LEFT]

hah ive seen those cars run in person…

the yellow one never did so great but was FAST up the back strait at mid ohio. HOWEVER the car did make it to the runoffs… so it does say something about it over all.

the s14 was a bullet on the track and would have done well if it were not for problems with the engine.

Those 240s are the same cars, just repainted. Friggen fast too. Just a bit more driver skill and it would have been a real threat to the ever-dominant RealTime TypeR’s piloted by some good drivers, Pierre Kleinubing, Hugh Plumb, and PD Cunningham in the earlier years, before the NSX, but even then he was pulling double duty in both the Speed chalenge Cup and the Speed GT Cup in the first year of the NSX.

yea it just looks like a lower budget speed wc car

then again speed was in its infancy back then too so im sure even the realtime cars werent that nice

now if you go look at the speed wc cars its a totally different ballgame. its like alms preperation.

i think speed wc was more of a semi professional series back then compared to know where it is considered pretty much a full out professional series.

s14s really do make great race car chassis though and a well prepped one will be fast thats for sure

yeah speed touring and GT were definitely closer to SCCA level back in the day…

and now, like you say, closer to ALMS GT and BTCC/WTCC level.
