Nissan S13 brake upgrades

Hey all,
I have a S13 silvia with a 5lug conversion. Sadly it didn’t come with the brakes it was supposed to and only has the crappy single piston calipers.
So I am wondering where to look for some 300zx TT, skyline caliper upgrades? Obviously I want the 4piston fronts and the 2 piston rears with the master cylinder and slave cylinder.
I also want to get stainless steel lines, and slotted rotors, with hawk pads.
I am looking for advice as of where to look for these and what is a good price to pay for these? I don’t want to overpay for the used calipers, as I have no idea what they are worth.
And what’s a good shop/brand you guys have dealt with for slotted brake rotors?
Thanks for the help!

If you have some PM me, this isn’t a WTB thread.

www.pdm-racing.com has a whole kit for sale with rotor and everything, if you’re willing to shell out a grand or more. I doubt you’ll be able to find them for cheaper, believe me I’ve looked, even ebay ppl are asking 500 american for them when you can find them on there. If anyone can find them cheaper anywhere else, then please post, because I would like to know too.

Slave cylinder eh…??? I put together a set of 300ZX front brake with all new parts for about $500. The rears require alot more time and effort to do.

I was told you need the 300zx slave or the pedal will feel weird and you won’t have even force distributed front to back.
Is this incorrect?

Why not just get a proportioning valve?

ehh…what is a proportioning valve?

I can guess by the name what it is, but how does it work, where do you buy one, how do you set it up and tweek it?

Flavio, where did you get everything for 500 bux? Tell me so I can get everything for 500 bux.

I dont think you need a valve but you can get the skyline or Z31 master cyl. You wont need the booster but the cly is much bigger than the crappy stock unit. And yes the peddle will feel mushy if you dont have that.

I believe speed tech sells everything for like $850 with front and rear everything, You get the cly too so ya give them a shout. It sounded not too bad of a deal to me since it comes with calipers and rotors and everything from the Z32!

that does seem quite good, do they have a website?

I would look around though too. I’ve noticed sometimes their prices are higher than others

Where on their website is it listed, I can’t find z32 brakes anywhere.

Well, I have found 2 good private deals, I’ll let you guys know how they pan out after so you can try and pickup the sloppy seconds!!

My question now is:
-IS the 300zx/GTR brake booster needed with the master cylinder? Or is the silvia brake booster the same?(not the hunk of metal behind the mastercylinder, the vacuum brake booster. Big black drum helps pedal feel)
-Would the 26mm airgap 300zx non-turbo brakes fit the same and still be a great upgrade?(turbo is 30mm airgap. I don’t know GTR, i think it’s the same)

Thanks all, I think I found a great deal! under $200 for both front calipers, completly rebuilt with seals/pins/springs, everything! and $150 for the rears.

Who has done this upgrade? What is involved to swap in the rear brakes with the 2piston calipers? Is it needed if I am not hitting the track?

Do the rears like SCC did. I run my original brake booster. I use a Z32 ABS M/C. I also use 30mm front rotors and calipers. The biggest benefit is rotor availability. 26mm was onlu used part of the 90 model year, the all north american Z32s came 30mm. Are you looking at aluminum or iron calipers? All GTRs use bigger rotors and calipers. With every generation getting bigger.

I thought R32 GTR’s had the same size brakes components as the Z32. Is this wrong?
Should I get a 300zx brake booster? I have a 89 silvia standard, non-ABS.
Do you guys think my S14 factory wheels with 40offset will fit around the Z32 brake calipers?
What size of mastercylinder should I try and get?

I think the R32 GTR brakes are the same diameter but are 32mm instead of 30…too small of a difference to warrant getting the GTR brakes.

Any idea if my rims will fit you guys? That is my only concern now, I have a good idea about the rest of the info and such.
And do you think my brake booster will work well with the upgraded master cylinder?

As long as you’re talking 5 stud S14 wheels. Master cylinder. 46010-30P22 or whatever it changes up to.

Yes, this is what I am talking about. I just don’t want the caliper to rub on the inside of the rim. Only spoke design and offset decide that, but I was hoping someone might have an idea for me?
Thanks

Well, I found a good deal on some skyline GTR brake calipers, rotors, pads, mastercylinder and brake booster!
If anyone wants the rear brakes off of a GTR let me know within 24hours and I could get them too for cheap!!

It’s factory in cars in your brake system. It’s a hydraulic actived spring system that allows brake fluid to the back of the vehicle first (farther to go) then evenly applies it to the front. Without this, your front brakes would lock up first.
