Nissan Skyline GTR Now Legal In USA (+ Others)

Because of Mercedes:

This is my understanding on the subject.

skylines are cool i guess but personally i would rather have any other car from this list

even my BMW right on the door lists the month/year it was produced. Pretty sure this is true for most or all US based vehicles.

Bringing in these cars is cool but you might as well buy 2. When something breaks and you don’t want to wait a couple weeks for something to come from Japan you will at least have a spare. Yes there are places here that stock some parts and some are interchangeable with other parts through nissan, but the majority are not.

Also the cost of ownership is high.

Might be a silly question but:

If a car is brought over as show and display, once it hits 25 years old can it be registered for normal use without any extra BS, or is it stuck as show and display forever?

Also I had never heard of a maserati shamal until now… Holy fuck do I want one!

when i used the 15 year rule importing a couple cars into Canada they went by the month & year of manufacture but it doesnt surprise me that this guy brought it in from Canada over a land border and found some leniency.

with regard to the Lancia Delta Integrales, dont get too excited. those cars have been massively cool for a long time in a lot of markets and finding a good one means paying $25,000 - $40,000 for one from what i know. Not like GTR’s that are apparently a dime a dozen in japan and pretty commonplace up here too. moreover, insurers have gotten really finicky about insuring RHD cars up here so a lot of guys sell theirs just so that they dont have to deal with the stupid rates if they can even find someone to insure it.

this.

I’ve posted that same shamal in the dumped whipzzzz thread several times…

I usually don’t check that thread because it takes forever to load all the pics on my phone haha

yeah they aren’t cheap. autoforum up in ontario used to sell them all the time.

a nice Rallye Golf still goes for $12-15K so after the cost of shipping and taxes you are nearing $20K, I don’t expect to see that many, and nice ones for sale are not that plentiful.

Mr Newman we still have an aging Godzilla owned by an equally aging Englishman stuffed full of your goodies ! Happy New Year mate.
Shoot me a PM we should get caught up, I saw your bike wayyyyyyyyy cool
peace A.

And BTW the R32 GTR makes the Lancia look like an A+P shopping cart , check out the Bath hurst races in Oz against the Cosworth Sierra’s in the 90’s damned that’s some serious racing…

But what you REALLY Need is one of these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDCE4FjVHOU
I saw rows and rows of them outside the Reliant factory in Tamworth England, I lived 5 miles away… awesome… Check some UK Rallycross, it’s not like the US equivalent.
Strange archeology indeed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTmQdCpnFFo now I remember why I like these cars so much, faster than a McLaren F1 with 1/3 of the engine displacement

welcome to the internet.

A buddy of mine is currently in the process of importing an R32. He’s going through a company called JDM Ottawa.

So they are taking care of all the paperwork it seems? is it coming into Canada then he is bringing it across the border? or is it coming into a US port for him to pick up?
Is this someone local that is doing it?

Yes someone local but he’s not on here. Supposedly it’s getting delivered to his house…

He said he will be signing up this evening to chime in on here.

there are better guys to go through than jdm ottawa… lots of GTA companies that i could refer.

and let the hazing begin…

All BS aside, I look forward to seeing these cars on our shores.

I look at an 89 GTR the same way I look at the Lamborghini Countach. It was cool back in 89 but I really wouldn’t want one today.
