I’ve got a stock internal 89 crx si… 182k miles…I’ve currently got a dry kit on it 40shot and it works great…I didnt change the plugs or anything just sprayed how it is. Now i know i’ll prob need to put in a colder plug for a 75 shot but what about timing and do you think the motor will hold up with that?
75 WILL be riskay. I would stick w/ the 40 on that motor. You REALLY should put colder plugs in and knock your timing back a tick or two.
if u got a spare engine, i’d say drop to a colder plug, spray the 75 and see what happens. do a wot pass on the juice, turn car off as soon as your done w/ the pull, and coast it to a stop. pull plugs and read them. if at any time you feel/hear detonation, get out of it.
key thing is to turn car off as soon as your done. if you do a pull, then drive even 100 feet afterwards, it can alter the plugs appearance.
anopther thing to check on the plug, is to cut the threaded section off the plug that screws the plug into the head, You wanna look at the porcelain. look at the “black ring” around the plug, see where the ring is at–that will tell you how it is burning. as it can be down inside the threaded section, or up on the top by the electrode. how that ring is on he plug can tell you alot more than just looking at the plug w/ a magnifying glass.
do a google search or something to learn how to read nitrous plugs. alot of info out there that im not going to go into detail on.
