No Front Plate Ticket.

A few months ago i was driving on the 90 driving to school and a state trooper had just finished pulling someone over/writing him a ticket, and was walking to his truck, he gave me a strange stare, and then started to lightly jog to his truck. I figure it must be for no front plate, so i get in the right lane since i know he will be pulling me over, as soon as those lights went on i just pull right over and stop, figured i would make it easier for him. Long story short he didn’t let me go, I got a ticket, mailed it in to cheektowaga court, plead not guilty.

So I went to court this monday, plate cover in hand and told them I didn’t know it was a problem, that when i bought the car the plate cover was on there, so i registered it, put the plate on and cover over it. She laughed and said it covers the whole plate, and told me to put it in my trunk from now on and the case was dismissed.

A. I don’t like the way my car looks without the cover, so i put it back on yesterday.
B. Driving record is clean, any speeding tickets i ever had (2), were reduced to parking tickets.
C. Will this show up on my record as being pulled over for no front plate? Do they log each time they pull you over and for what? Because if i get pulled over again for no front plate, I was hopeing to do the same and just play stupid, and act like I didn’t know it was a problem, so i can get out of the ticket again.

Just wondering if next time the court would be able to tell that i have been pulled over for this reason, and that I know it is against the law.

Thanks!

A dismissed front plate ticket doesn’t go on any record. Just don’t run into the same cop again

so was it a “no front lincense plate” ticket or an “obstructed license plate” ticket?

just carry a screwdriver and take it off in front of the cop- simple

Lol I hope I don’t!

It said no front plate and or designer insert i believe.

Well when the trooper pulled me over I said I was taking pictures of my car and forgot to remove it, and i said i can remove it with a screwdriver right now… but he just gave me the ticket.

this thread gives me a great idea… next time I get a front plate ticket (I don’t run plates on the front of my cars), I’m going into court with a plate cover and using your argument.

Next time after you get the ticket go to the police station within 24 hours to show you corrected the problem. I’m pretty sure it’s a fix it ticket and will just be taken care of right there, no need to go to court. I did it for tint more than once and also for loud exhaust tickets.

X…

no front plate is NOT a fix it ticket. I even told a tropper i would remove my plate cover while he was there…he wrote the ticket anyway. I’ve gotten 3 tickets related to my plates over the years, non of them were thrown out. (yet i’ve managed to get more severe tickets thrown out with minimal effort…weird)

Yeah i thought i looked dumb sitting in court with it in my hands lol but getting out of it after watching people have to pay hundreds in parking tickets for speeding made me happy i brought it, and didn’t have any fines.

On a side note i over heard the lady that dismissed my ticket say to another person that 14mph over isn’t excessive… i think it is…just saying.

14mph over may not be bad in a 65… but in a 20mph school zoneor something… i dunno.

maybe she thought you were hot.

I got a front plate ticket thrown out last year, I just had an office sign off that I installed it. I think it depends on the court.

lol, no it wasn’t my ticket, it was someone else’s, but i was surprised she said 14mph over isn’t excessive, i usually do 5mph over and thats it, unless at an area where i do like a little pull.

i had a no front plate ticket a few years back in lewiston, trooper gave me a ticket and said if i fix it it might get dropped. i made a bracket had it mounted and went to the station like 2 hours later, turns out noone answers there they just have a call box on the door. i was pissed because i had to drive 45 min one way for court as i live in pendleton. so i brought a picture of it mounted with the date and the judge wanted to give me a parking ticket instead, well i ended up argueing with him that that was no better i fixed it right away and tried resolving this sooner as i simply didnt know it was illegal. well there was about 30 people waiting in line behind me so he ended up just dismissing the ticket. i hate front plates, theyre pretty ugly. on my daily ill run it, but on the truck im mounting it behind the grill in the bumper cover this year. ill see how that works out.

kenmore wants $480 and 6 pts for my no front plate if I plead guilty

ouch!

Just run the damned plate. Everybody knows what your car looks like. It’s just a T/A and then you cna’t possibly get pulled over for that.
