no more turbo focus, new car pics inside.

Yeah, The most expensive part of the kit would be the supercharger. Find a junked cobalt ss/sc or ion redline and rip off the m62 and the liquid to air intercooler get a cobra heat exchanger, get a used adapter kit + tune = really quick.

250hp blown focus would be fun… $3200 shipped

we must have different kbb or a salesman lied his ass off to you…

I just did a kbb with an 03’ svt 3door with tilt wheel and ONLY 12,000 miles and in excellent SUGGESTED RETAIL VALUE is $8,300…

So i must ask how many are on yours and where did you come up with $11k?

Whats the appeal of an SVT Focus?

Not knocking your decision…just wondering.

Congrats man

Should be able to get off a whole lap this year

Peppy hatchback with great handling combined with a good aftermarket able to make it a track monster and really fun car. I think they look sharp and they are one of the best handling fwd cars stock.(I think it’s lack of enough pep.) So no torque steer.

6spd trans, bigger brakes thats all i know of off the top of my head.

el oh fucking el!

because KBB is low for these cars…
not to mention doesnt allow options for the HID headlights and the audiophile sound package. Edmunds rates it roughly $9k for zip 14225 with 60k miles, which is what mine has.
I have never seen one in the condition of mine sell for less than 11k…they sell on the forums all the time for $12-13k in similar condition with similar options. toss in the fact that mine was previously owned by a middle-aged woman and not beat on in any way shape or form, I feel I got a very fair deal. not to mention I got MORE than blue book for my old car…

nice pickup, good move. h&r cup kit is soft as hell though

the difference of the SVT compared to a base focus…

base has drum rear brakes, and 10" front rotors
SVT has 11" rears and 13" fronts IIRC

the interiors are DRASTICALLY improved. SVT had options of heated seats, traction control, heated mirrors, power sunroof, etc.

the SVT block has forged rods, hyperectic(sp?) pistons, and oil squirters. The head has Variable Cam Timing, the intake manifold is a Dual Stage system.

the SVT has a very close-ratio 6spd, the same as in a mini copper S in comparison to the 5spd in the base.

the suspension is 3/4" lower, musch stiffer, and has larger sway bars front and rear.

then there is the SVT bodywork…aggressive bumpers, rear diffuser, aggreasive sidskirts, HID’s and hatch wing.

the SVT is leaps and bounds better than a base focus. They are always in the top 5 of time attack competitions and such across the nation. They handle fantastic for what they are, and with a small boost in power in some form, they are monsters on roadcourses…which is what I plan to do with the car.

yeah, I have read mixed reviews on it…although I’m getting such a good deal on it, I may just buy it and upgrade to the H&R race springs…

Yeah, and it has THAT THING when you drive it, the thing that makes you smile, the car is just sweet it’s not the best at anything but does a lot of things very well.

well said, I absolutely LOVE driving this car…although its very tough to drive under 50mph on any road unless you skip 3rd and 5th gear lol.

Glad you’re happy with your purchase then. Thanks for the brief education.

its like the appeal of a STI over a WRX or a Evo over a lancer. everything is upgraded. Again, nice buy. sell me your SVT rear lol

Nice car

that is a really good way to put it.

I think I want to keep everything I swap out as spares in the event of an accident or something…although I have the rear from my bodykit from the other car I would let go for VERY cheap. I could even be persuaded to paint and install for reasonable fee as well.

nice upgrade…race springs and konis have done me well along with a big rear bar. I’ve got a set of 15 x 7.5" rota slips if you are looking for some cheap track wheels. Also spacers and a selection of street or old(hard) race rubber.

I remember back in 05 when I went to a taurus car club event at gingerman. one of the guys had (and still has) a silver SVT focus. I was behind him for nearly 30 min trying to get just a little more out of my car to get past him. Our cars were very very closely matched. His car was completely stock and mine just had 11.6" brake upgrade in the front. It amazed me how well my SHO kept up with him because I thought for sure he would run away in the corners so badly that I would not be able to catch him in the straights. close to the 30 min of lapping my front brakes decided to turn into a massive cloud of white smoke and my over drive light started flashing. which I later found out was the PCM’s way of saying STOP BEATING ON ME! The OD light flashes when the trans temp hits 300deg. The brakes went up in smoke just a few turns later after the OD light came on. I obviously got off the track but the focus stayed out for another 25min or so and came in only for a driver change and went straight back out… my car was parked for a couple hours to cool and to inspect the brakes once they cooled from their nuclear temp status.

I love the SVT cars! Nice pickup. and I want a race when my N/A SHO is back out!
