Noob Needs Help

Hey, well today is the best day of my life, for aslong as i can remember iv always dreamed of one day getting an sr20det and swapping it into my 240 and today i just finished ordering my very own redtop from “jdm racing motors” out of quebec, anyways as iv said before i am a bit of a noob so i have a few questions for you more mechanically inclined members,

1- the motorset does not include a SMIC, not a big problem because the first thing i was planning on doing was changing it over to a bigass FMIC (HKS or Greddy for example, not just a cheap ebay brand one) so my question is if you were running a stock sr20, would it even be worth the money to get such a quality intercooler, and if it was so big would it infact hurt the performance of the engine? similar to having a 3.5" exhaust system on a KA24? i dunno just thought it ask…

2- anybody able to give me the step by step procedure to take when doing the wiring for the swap, or even willing to give me a hand for a small fee when my engine arrives? the engine comes with an uncut harness so it shouldnt be to big of a deal
thanks for any help you can give a poor lil noob like myself

Have a link for where you got the engine?

  1. Having a huge FMIC with wide piping will slow down your throttle response a little bit, but it should be too much of an issue. Its not worth it getting the stock SMIC. It’ll likely cost you $200 or so. I’d just save my pennies for a FMIC and a decent BOV.

  2. The wiring info is all found on heavythrottle.com. It’s pretty easy to follow. That page will help you out a ton with the rest of the swap too. I’m sure you could get some help from around here when you get the engine in though.

Good luck!

hey thanks alot, the link for the site where i got my redtop is www.jdmracingmotors.com
