So my wife recently traded in her 2002 jeep for a 2008 Honda Pilot and I have a question about the tires. We have a set of snows for the jeep that I would love to throw on the Pilot.
According to the miata tire calc (every car guy should have this bookmarked) http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html you’re only looking at a .3" difference in diameter. So when your speedometer says 60 you’ll actually be going 60.7. That’s nothing at all.
The tires will be a little narrower, which is good for a snow so they cut through the snow better. The only other thing to look into is weight. You say 2002 Jeep but not what Jeep. If it weights considerably less than the Pilot you’ll want to make sure the tire is rated for the weight. A Pilot isn’t exactly a small vehicle.
By comparison, my GTO’s stock tire is a 245/45/17 and I’ve run 225/45/17 snows. That put’s me off .7" in diameter, or 2.8mph @ 60.
