As everyone knows, turbos, manifolds, downpipes, all come loose from vibrations and heat in the engine. This is magnified with old nuts, studs, or stiff/solid engine mounts.

Nord locks use two cam surfaces to create a tension on the fastener that is greater than the torque created by the tread pitch to release in vibration, therefore securing the nut. Unlike loctite, it is unaffected by heat. Watch the video!
I had nuts back off on my turbo manifold then I installed these nuts and havent had a problem since. This was over a year ago. I totally recommend these for any turbo application. All the serious time attack and race teams run these on their cars.
About the thickness of 2 regular flat washers. I actually picked some of these up on eBay a while ago from a skidoo guy, I guess they have alot of problems with bolts/nuts rattling loose. Hopefully it stops my wastegate bolts from backing off.
