So i hear on the shitty local news that 9 million people are still not prepared for the change over from analog to digital. What i wanna know is who the fuck are you losers watching those awesome 8 to 10 channels and nothing but!?
They just said in Ch2 news that they are trying to get Obama to extend the deadline so that more people can do the switch.
I’m all set with my 4 tvs.
They extend it and its just going to have the problem later. Its not hard. They offer pretty much FREE converter boxes. People are just lazy.
Yup. I say put it into effect, and then jack up the converter box prices and say, too bad.
How can you not be ready? They’ve been talking about it for SO LONG. And who doesn’t have cable?
Talking about it for a year and a half.
Im one of the losers without cable or dish. I just bought a new TV though and already get the digital channels. Anything I really want to watch I usually DL.
It was free, but the funding has run dry; that is why they are trying to get them to extend the start date
I know people without cable but they use digital OTA. It has the guide and program info and everything. I love my HD over the air. Im addicted to Letterman and Leno and other late night shows just becuase of the quality of the picture.
Just like any government policy. When they make the switch, people will complain about how they can not watch TV becuase they did not know what to do or have time or was imformed.
There is help lines
Network tests
Pretty much FREE converter boxes
The info is out there. People are lazy and just delaying it will not help.
they even have those little banners on the bottom of the tv shows all the time.
It’s mostly old people that barely know how to use the remote and all the really care about is Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune
if they delay the switch, it will just be rewarding people for their laziness/incompetence. people dragged their feet for this long and had this much warning. apparently that wasn’t enough for them, maybe they will get off their asses if you take away their free television.
i say pull the trigger.
pull the trigger. so people miss a week or 2 of their fav shows, oh fucking well. tv doesnt provide heat, medication or food, and therefore people can live without it for a lil while while they scramble to do something they had 18 months to do as it is
I think if they make the switch, people with indoor antennas are going to be fucked for the most part.
Digital channels are much harder to pickup than analog ones. I live about 5 miles south of the city, and can only get two channels with indoor antennas…
And no i’m not putting an outdoor mast on my roof for the times that my cable goes out.
my sister told me that even with the ‘coupon’ that she’d still have to shell out like 40 bucks or so? i’m sure it beats the price of what they’re really trying to charge… or is this a different deal? i heard they were supposed to be free. i’m not worried because i have cable, but sucks for her since shes a full-time student
THE BOXES ARE NOT FREE ANYMORE
THE BOXES ARE NOT FREE ANYMORE
the government agency or whoever ran out of money for coupons so…
THE BOXES ARE NOT FREE ANYMORE
THE BOXES ARE NOT FREE ANYMORE
I had cable for roughly 8 months a few years back when I moved into my house. I have lived there for over 3 years and have survived without cable or dish.
During the summer we are rarely home and during the winter months we watch whats available. All the stuff we like is on the local channels. If not we have a big movie collection to choose from.
Never really saw a need to have another 80 dollar bill when it could be used else where.
I do have the converter box and I must say it is nice finally watching something crystal clear.
I actually pick up twice as many channels now with the box then I did prior to the analog signals
Well then too fucking bad for those people who were too lazy to take advantage of it when it was free.
this is true, but i just wanted to put the free argument to bed.
