At least do single file and not take up the whole lane. I doubt they are even doing 20 mph
Fixed
20!!! I doubt they are even doing 12
If you ride like bowling pins, someone’s bound to get a strike eventually.
I disagree with this analogy. The limiting factor is not the new 30 mph speed limit, the limiting factor is and has been the exit ramp speed. For example the two 190 garden hoses that fill the east bound 198 bucket has a flow rate of 25 mph (not 55 mph), the other east bound bucket’s inlets are still from traffic lights, yield signs, stop signs and 30 mph roads, the bucket’s outlet exits have not changed. All that has been reduced is the amount of turbulence that can exist in the bucket.
It still sucks for those of us that can defy the laws of physics and can ignore primary flow restrictor, but it has been my experience that the general population can not.
Now going down to one lane is a different story.
BUMP for backtracking:
The city now plans on recommending to the New York State Department of Transportation that an increase would make sense not only short term but for years to come.

Well im shocked
500 attempted child killers in the city:
Weird they lowered the speed limit right around the same time the city allowed people to plea down tickets and keep the money
Much revenue. Many tickets.
I thought that BPD didn’t have radar? :troll:
Also agree with the one statement in the article. Keep it 30 where it passes the park. Parkside to Delaware. After that should go back to 50.
That said there are so many other routes that even before the speed limit drop I never used the 198. I am on it 1-2 times a month just when I am going to 190N and have always thought it was a cumbersome drive.
They actually equipped cops who were trained to do this. If you look they are outside the cars with portable guns and not car mounted radar as part of the default cop training most patrol cars use.
I just hope they wrote enough tickets to make up for the money they spent on barriers, lights, signs, cop pace cars, and now all the new equipment to enforce this instead of ya know, building a fucking guard rail.
I agree about the speed limit zone from Parkside to Deleware or even Elmwood. If they bumped it up to 40 outside of that it wouldn’t be so torturous to drive to and from work every day. It’s hard to stay awake and pay attention driving 30 on an expressway.
I use the 198 all the time but most of my travel takes me to the 190.
I still do 50-60 on it, most people I see driving next me are doing 50+. The only place they shoot radar from is by the Delaware exit that I know of. I avoid that road as much as possible.
My favorite is all the people doing 50+ through the neighborhoods now.
What do you base this on? Do you mean to say the high traffic streets like Parkside, Amherst, and Main?
People flying down Nottingham.
Not new. That is why Middlesex is the smart buy there.
Oh its def not but there is a lot more people who purposely divert earlier off the 198 to shoot down those streets now.
