This was reported by Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin on his facebook page tonight.
"Here it is. This is the video where I was asked to keep the Democrat proposals for the NY SAFE Act away from the public. This list was given to me by a colleague and it is not confidential.
This bill was an attack on the 2nd amendment and the Democrats clearly wanted to dismantle the work of the Founding Fathers. None of these amendments were included in the final bill thanks to us fighting back. I will not stand silent while these unpatriotic proposals are pathetically thrown at us a 11 o’clock at night:
Confiscation of “assault weapons”
Confiscation o ten round clips
Statewide database for ALL Guns
Continue to allow pistol permit holder’s information to be replaced to the public
Label semiautomatic shotguns with more than 5 rounds or pistol grips as "assault weapons”
Limit the number of rounds in a magazine to 5 and confiscation and forfeiture of banned magazines
Limit possession to no more than two (2) magazines
Limit purchase of guns to one gun per person per month
Require re-licensing of all pistol permit owners
Require renewal of all pistol permits every five years
Hell no, if you carry your HK off duty, it better be loaded for duty carry… our FEDERAL jurisdiction is over any state policy… now, if you were to carry a personal weapon, that COULD be different, BUT, no cop would EVER say anything to you for it.
according to federal law, if you are a LEO, you can carry ANY personal weapon, concealed. i wanna say it’s HR218 or something?
Going to the CMP in Port Clinton, actually writing this from my hotel room. Hopefully picking up a couple M1 Garands and the good 30/06 and .30 carbine they just got in. Purchasing from the Federal Government on a military base…Oh the irony! :tspry:
I wasn’t before the job…but being around so many gun nuts (I’m talking guys who have well over 100 guns) i got hooked…the cool thing is, EVERY single one of my guns is selling USED for more than what I paid for it… hell, my AK is selling for TWICE what I paid for it.
I hope people are thinking about that list when they’re pissed their local Republican “settled” for the current bill, despite not even having a majority in the Senate.
The days of a Republican NY Senate protecting us from bullshit like this are over because a couple “safe” Republican districts decided to nominate unelectable fringe idiots and handed the seats over to the Democrats. I’m honestly surprised the Assembly didn’t get more of their wish list considering Democrats have the Assembly by a huge margin, a razor slim margin in the Senate and the governors mansion.

The ray of hope I have for the future of this state is that list that the Assembly wanted is going to make a great Republican campaign video in every county north of NYC.
Lots of people who vote democratic also love gun guns/2A stuff this might sway people back over to republican side even if they don’t agree with other political issues.
Combine this with taxes going up and people not smart enough to realize it didn’t really have anything to do with Obama
I was happy to see that both my state Senate and Assembly reps voted against this bill. But man, when 50 of 150 assemblymen are Dems from NYC, we’re Fd.
I think I already voted republican on all local elections, but yeah it’s starting to get to the point that I’ll put up with republicans oppressing minorities instead of the dems taking rights from everyone.
It would be interesting to see on a national level how much this changed swing states.
This issue for politicians here is by the time elections come whatever tragic events happen will be forgotten but the gun control thing will still be out front.
Here’s the thing though, how can you dig in and say no when you know what the Assembly is pushing for (bans, confiscations… that whole list of bullshit posted earlier) combined with the fact that Democrats have 33 of 63 seats in the Senate? If every Republican in the Senate dug in and said no, stopping the Senate from getting their version of the bill out first, the Assembly would have submitted their version. Now maybe a few moderate Democrats in the Senate would have refused to go along and maybe the Assembly bill never passes, but that’s a pretty huge gamble to take considering what was at stake.
Interesting way to look at it. If he was just playing for the lesser of two evils though then why does he have a statement on the home of his senate webpage humping the bill?
