NY about to pass strictest gun laws in nation

So be it.

that is a shame. I wonder how many NYspeeders will be fellons

Speechless…

Awesome pants.

Go home, NYS. You’re drunk.

The thing that REALLY infuriates me is the BS about purchasing ammo.

Too much work. I’m going to open a gun store on the NY/PA border and make a ton more money for way less work.

Just when you think you are winning against the NWO you get kicked right in the head.

Well this is bullshit. Let the lawsuits begin.

Ok so what is the deal can you still legally buy a gun privately today? until tomorrow? or is it all done now and you cant buy shit.

The law has been signed by the state executive. If you have any full 10 round clips laying around you must now go pull out 3 rounds.

You pretty much have a year to buy them privately

Because the New York State - Gun Examination Safety Taxation And Prosecution Office will come and get you otherwise.

seriously ? how long do u have to buy them online?

As a responsible gun owner, hunter, and occasional target shooter, I don’t have issues with most of the law. I think it helps close some loopholes that needed to be closed, and ultimately allows good guys to own firearms and makes access more difficult for people who shouldn’t have them.

That said, there are parts I don’t agree with.

Regulation and registration of rifles are fine, but banning new sales of rifles using the “one feature” rule is going too far. The point was to keep them out of the hands of bad guys - this part keeps them out of the hands of everyone. We already register our handguns, and I’m fine with that.

The magazine parts of the legislation were IMO unnecessary and probably will cause more kick back from gun advocates than any other part of the legislation.

The mental health aspects were not very well thought out either. I feel it puts medical workers lives at risk, it discourages people with mental health issues from seeking help, among other things. The intentions here were good, but it was rushed and not well thought out.

The ammo sections from what I understand just requires a quick BG check, they aren’t actually restricting how much you can buy unless you are deemed unable to possess a firearm in the first place.

This all said - this legislation won’t really have any negative effects on me, but admittedly I have no interest in owning an assault rifle.

Does anyone know what constitutes a relic? Does the firearm have to be a certain age?

I don’t know how this will work?

I don’t know if FFLs are responsible for the type of firearm they transfer?

I see what you did there.

That’ll teach those bad guys.

Don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Elmer Fudd

What about the internet/ mail order sales? I shoot some calibers that are hard to find/expensive - black powder 45/70 for my trapdoor springfield and 30/40 for my Krag Jorgensen

Neither do I but now i have to jump through hoops to obtain ammo and register the WWII mags for my M1 carbine. I never understood this logic. Why are LAW ABIDING PEOPLE being punished? You think the next guy who wants to go on a rampage is only going to put 7 rounds in his mag?

Made prior to 1963

I read the law but I am confused as to it’s effective date. If I understand this right we have 90 days to sell any preban magazine over 10 rounds, 1 year to register guns we already own and we can’t have more than 7 rounds in a magazine as of right now.

The way this law was passed is complete bullshit and that fact that none of it was thought through or discussed is even worse.
