NYIRP 9/9/09 - Neonglh Evo goes 11.256 @ 122.26

That’s one light full interior Evo.
Great times.

Hmm seems as though there is more than meets the eye here :snky: especially since this is comming from :snky::snky: HQ

so stock turbo stock head 11.2 wow thats impressive

Nice Mark.

Your Evo is beasty.

Another big one is stock manifolds. There is a lot to be gained with both of the Evo manifolds (exhaust and intake).

Congrats on your new best.

Gutting and caging is a waste of time. Take it from someone who knows, if I could have kept a FULL interior in the 350z I would have. It’s much nicer to have a full interior and be half a second slower.

Hell, most people will see better gains by DRIVING a full interior car MORE because it’s more fun/less harsh than they would see by gutting it and caging it.

Slicks + ~ 500 lbs Weight Reduction + Drive very well = performance of many cars with twice the power. It’s a simple formula that works very well, but most people either aren’t willing to or can’t follow. Well done Mark.

Most people aren’t willing to pull that much weight out of their cars. To anyone who hasn’t pulled hundreds of pounds of weight out of a car…you don’t know what you’re missing. In addition to the car being ~500 lbs lighter than stock, Mark reduced the rotational mass specifically with the small brake kits and the tiny rotors, light wheels/tires etc. where weight reduction has the greatest affect on acceleration. I remember when Mark told me “I found another 100 lbs to pull out of the car today!” It’s exiting stuff. 100 lbs makes a car feel very noticeably different.

Clearly the slicks helped a ton (over 1/2 a second better ET and higher trap speed). They helped even more on my car. It wouldn’t go down the track for shit on street tires once I turned the boost up. Again this is a step most people don’t want to take, usually because traction = broken parts. You spent the cash on your driveline upgrades, and are willing to break shit. Again kudos to you for going for it.

And you can drive, very well. This is enough to keep most cars that are more powerful running in the 12s to 14s all by itself. Drag racing a stick car that makes torque isn’t easy…AWD or not. Thumbs up for your driving.

People probably think you make 400 wheel or have nitrous when they see your car run. LOL After seeing tons of guys with more power run slower all the time, why wouldn’t they?

edit: BTW…Curt Brown ran 10.59@127.59 on the Evo VIII turbo in his Evo on gas like 4 years ago. I have a lot of respect for what he’s done over the years so I can’t help but mention it. His setup was very similar to yours, but he was on a built shortblock and he’s been in the game longer than us so it’s not a fair comparison to what you’ve done. His car weight without him was 100 lbs less than yours too so you still have some weight to find.

nice times, tires weight reduction and good suspension go a long way!

in for the HD vids :snky:

happen to have any pictures of the interior and trunk :snky:
:snky:

I could take some. The interior is full, stock. The trunk is completely gutted, other than my windshield sprayer bottle.

Mark you’ve been pm’-i-fied.

Wow! Nice times!

I know you said your on a stock head. Is that with ARP head studs at least??

Yup, ARP head studs are installed when we did the cams.

Haenszel, biggest weight redux were the exhaust (50 pounds), brakes (70 pounds), suspsension (40 pounds), crash bars (40+ pounds), cf trunk (20 pounds maybe?), wheels/tires (40 pounds), and then all of the other stuff around the car. I did every single snky snky thing I could without cutting any metal.

ive been in this car, i can vouch for the full stock interior.

the interior doesnt even really matter that much. the rear seats weigh close to nothing and the fronts seats arent that much either

Awesome Times and setup. Thats where Im trying to go with mine. Just gotta dial in the new boost setup and upgrade the fuel system. What cc injectors are you running?

PS does yours only see track or do you street it?

I def gotta make it out to STM one of these days, I love the cars that come out of there.

Actualy, the front seat and rear seats are close to 50 pounds, it’s significant.

I am running the stock injectors still, I believe they are 560cc? I’m not sure what exactly. I drive it on the street, but not too often. I only have like 900 miles on it or so this year.
