NYSPeed Guitar Players?

just curios if anyone else on here plays guitar or bass at all. so

-whats your guitar rig like?
-what style music to do play?
-how long have you been playing?
-in a band?
-any distinctions or awards?
-influences?

-in order of how i rank them (most use): Gibson Les Paul Standard (changed all the cream colored plastic parts to black, added Grover locking tuners, Syemour Duncan Pearly Gates Humbucker at the bridge), Epipiphone Firebird Studio (just got this, stock pickups SUCK but that will be changed soon. overall this is an unbelieveable guitar for the price. i was blown away by the quality), Fender Standard American Strat (white with maple neck, Seymour Duncan lil '59 pickup at the bridge), Fender Strat (candy apple red, made by me, maple/rosewood neck, 1 Seymour Duncan SH8 Invader humbucker at the bridge, 1 volume knob), Epiphone G-1275 (red doubble neck…identical to what Jimmy Page played Stairway to Heaven with), Gretsch acoustic (cant remember the model # off the top of my head, jumbo body, sunburst finish, Fishman pre-amp) –> Pedal Board: Marshall Guv’Nor distortion, Dunlop Classic Wah, Boss tuner, MXR phase shifter, Line 6 digital delay unit, Boss Flanger, Ibanex Tube Screamer, Dunlop “Brick” pedal power, Fender amp footswitch --> Amp: Fender Princeton Chourus (60W).

-i play a lot of alterantive rock, some classic rock, and a little bit of DMB every now and then. i like jazz too, but only when playing with a group, and i havent really played any jazz since high school

-been playing for about 7 years

-not in a band :frowning: sadly

-i played in Jazz Band when i was in high school (graduated in '05) and 3 of the 4 years i made “A” Band for All County, and 2 of those years i made “B” Band for All State. My Senior year, i tried out for both electric bass and guitar, and made all County for both, but chose to accept “B” Band for all county on Electric Bass (to switch it up a little).

-HIT THE LIGHTS, Cartel, The Starting Line, So They Say, Copeland, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and many many more.

-in the same order of most used. Fender 1978 Jazz Bass Original US (Maple block inlay neck, Bassline Pickups, Badass II Bridge, 2 Tone Sunburst), Specter Legend 2006 (long scale 24 fret, 4 string, emg active pickups, onboard eq), All other bass guitars are like fender squire or home made. 1st rig, (small shows) GK Backline 600 head, Ferman power digital condencer, Behringer 4x10; 1 tweeter 1000watt cab. (it’s okay but it has the metal cones so it sounds decent.) 2nd Rig. (bigger shows or no pa) GK Backline 600 head, SWR Bertha 1x12; 1x6; and 1 tweeter. Both riggs wired with all monster cables bass series. Pedals: Digitec Multi effects pedal, Big Muff bass distortion, Boss ex7 eq, Dunlop Brick power supply, Dunlop Envalope Filter, Heil Talk box (sometimes).

-I play in a hard rock band, like audioslave or rage, play a lot of classic rock covers. Mainly rock, played some jazz from time to time with an upright but lost interest.

-Been playing bass for 8 years. so since i was 10.

-In a band called Blue Minute, kinda in a slump right now since we are all in school. But whatever the summers are fun. I have a joke band called Dictator, if you don’t like to joke around, please don’t listen. But Blue Minute, yes, check it out.

-No awards really. Don’t play for that kind of stuff anyways, Just 4 guys looking to play.

-Influences?? Deffinitly Led Zeppelin, I would not have any interest in music if it wasn’t for LZ. CAll me gay but when you get a tattoo it is supposed to mean something. Music is a huge part of my life so thats why they are there. Not because I’m a tool. Even tho I like listening to Tool. Other Influences… Audioslave, RATM, SOAD, Yes, anything progressional.

Blue Minute needs a new singer.

indeed. if you find me one let me know, I’m always willing to upgrade…

we went from drummer singing, to an official singer… so we’re getting there

Been playing since 1982. Haven’t touched My guitars except to move them in at least 9 mos, they are 84 Strat with HS3 pickups. POS Home made strat, OLP Wolfgang copy, Yamaha acoustic, cheap classical. Marshall AVT100, Morley wah and bad dog chorus.
Haven’t played in a band since 1986, used to play everything from metal and classical to punk and classic rock. my abilities are all but gone and i completely forgot how to read music(i was never any good at it)

It’s kind of useless posting words about how well you play or have played.

Listen to this, and if you’re too lazy to listen to the whole thing, skip to 4:20.

Oh, and if you know anyone that can play drums as well as my drummer let me know, he loves battling with any kind of real talent.

It’s not about how well you play. It’s just about being a guitar player. Coming together.

By The Way that song was sick. Different, it’s going on my mp3 player. Deffinitly liked it. Awesome, 2 guitarists? or pitch shifter?

have a '67 strat , cream with a white/black/white pickgaurd. Stewart McDonald 22 fret extended fretboard maple neck, Fender Lace Sensor pickups, and Schaeller tuners.

Goya acoustic, I’d guess it to be from the 60s but I have no idea.

had an american strat, but it didnt do anything for me so I got rid of it

64 Fender Jazz bass (rosewood neck) with a Stewart Mcdonald body analyne died a cool green color, with bartaloni pickups and the original tuners and bridge. the neck is straight as an arrow, hard to find for something that old.

I have an early 70s Dunlop crybaby wah wah, and boss chorus and compression sustainer. my distortion pedal got stolen years ago, looking for a Tube Driver.

play out of a Silvertone 1482 tube amp. 1959 I believe. 1 12", sounds great, creamy, vintage. awesome

also an Ampeg Reverbrocket 2 GS-12-R tube amp, I would assume mid to late 60s. different than the silvertone, can handle a bit more (also a 12") and packs more of a punch.

On bass I prefer to play mostly blues. on guitar i prefer blues and rock and roll, used to play alternative when I was a kid, play some modern rockish stuff or whatever they call it these days

if I found people my age (early 20s) who played music I liked, I would def join a band again. but that’s yet to happen

6 layers of guitar, but yeah, 2 guitars when we played it live.

Really that neck is straight??? Even on the E by the 12th fret? I heard about that year having a high spot there.

nope, no buzzing. and I play it with really low action!! (more comfortable for slap bass). although my ideal slap bass would be a 62 or older precision bass with some fresh d&r’s with a 110 low E

I had the tendon in my left thumb severed by a hockey skate playing hockey for Bud bakewell tier II years ago, so the width of a p bass neck gets to me after a while. I’m such a sucker for that sound though

whenever I buy a house I’m taking like $6k from the mortgage and buying a fender bassman amp. my dad has one, hands down the best sounding bass amp i’ve ever heard in my life. nothing has come close to it.

foud these, pics of my guitars in my old apartment, and a blues jam my brother and law an i did about a year and a half ago, when my women left, he came over with some beers and his guitar, he’s on the acoustic, first (only time we ever played togther) It’s an mpg cuz i have a crappy sound card that wont recognize a mic)

i’ve been playing about 6yrs. i used to have an ibanez stagestar, but now i have a washburn idol series once peice with the stock twin humbucker’s. elixer strings, mx120 2x12" (the brand name for my amp has escaped me)

i used to have more gear like a vox original wah and some sick effects boards but sold everything for car parts. i used to be in two bands, but no one was ever as serious about it as me and would goof off instead of practice. just when i found someone i meshed really well with and we made some cool tunes up he went into the marine corps. so yeah. i pick it up maybe once a month and play till my fingers feel like they are on fire. other than that i miss playing more often, and really need to brush up, ive gotten rather rusty.

i have a guitar. i make noise with it. i wouldn’t consider myself a guitarist by any chance though

I’ve been “playing” over 30 years now. I suck. I did have a sickness about 3 years ago but it has been cured. Here is a pic of the sickness:

Damn Butch lol.

Meh…I dabbled alittle. Sucked hardcore. I want to get into Bass though. But what can I say…I am a drummer. Thats where my tallent it.

^i had a similar ‘sickness’ as well…then the opportunity to buy my Porsche came along a few years ago, and i cleaned house, but now im starting to get that ‘sickness’ again. thats not good. lol

Ibanez s-series

5150 HEAD

Full stack jackson

I play mostly metal but some rock

Playing for maybe about 8+ years

I was in Asherah & Sons Of Azrael but I have something new in production

Went on a full US tour and many others also put out an EP on Innerstrength Records with Asherah and im pretty damn proud of it to after that jammed with Sons of Azrael but quit after about a year because I didnt want to do the band thing full time anymore.

not too great, never wrote anything…mostly learned just because i wanted to be able to play what my favorite bands/artists played/wrote…i really dont have any artistic talen when it comes to music.

Started playing Jr year of high school, so 5 years ago or so. Obviously started with, and still have, my black Fender Strat Squire. From there, bought some cheapo Tacoma Acoustic for a talent show in which i covered Tears in Heaven by Clapton…

and then i outdid myself (but with no regrets) and purchased a Gloss Black Fender 12 string Acoustic (with jack for electric)…it’s my baby, and i love it…sounds amazing.

as far as toys go, i have a Morley Wah peddle, i forget the name brand, but some other effects peddle that has like 100+ different types of sounds on it, and just a Crate Amp. I probably will never buy anything else…maybe a bigger, better, louder amp eventually…but i dont take it serious enuogh or play frequently enough to justify spending any more money on it…
