Yea I saw it, i hang back cause I cant keep up with these guys…
Jason and Tim took off, I cruise, he flies by me, and next thing I know Jason hits a bump and hits his brakes…This ZX14 guy was right on his ass, hits his brakes slides in the curb, flies into the air and was just laying there. I turned around, to see if he was alright and by the time I got off my bike and ran up to him he already had it up trying to start it.
he was right on my ass going into the turn, prolly couldn’t handle it.
idiots… i hate zx-14s, target fixation, cold temps, cold tires, and debri on the road. be careful.
If I had to guess, with these low temps, he probably got into it a bit too much during the turn, tire started to come out, he freaked and cut the throttle then high sided it. I’ve come close to doing that, real close. Cutting the throttle is a hard reaction to combat during situations like that. When you cut the throttle, you suddenly have traction that wasn’t there combined with the bike slowing down and the bike throws you.

he was in over his head trying to keep up. we weren’t even pushing it hard. joe was smart enough to hang back because he knew his limits.

Yea he was def trying to keep up with you guys and couldn’t handle it. Thats why I bring my GPS usually, Im not even going to bother try to keep up, Ill catch up at a light, and if I get lost, just hit Home.
yea I would guess he grabbed waaaay to much brake and it straightened up his bike too fast and he fixated on the curb he was about to hit and instead of letting off the brake to he could lean back into the turn kept braking and couldnt lean away from it then whammy! lol btw i am only laughing because he was ok…for the record lol
Depending on the situation, I hate when people do this. I do head counts frequently during a ride to make sure I’m not missing anyone. So when all of a sudden someone bails without letting anyone know, I go back and search for that person.
It rarely happens since I won’t go very far before checking, but still. I think it only happened once last year.
everytime i ride with newer riders i see a version of this…they get into turns and havent figured out when they grab a whole handful of front brake it stands their bike back up and panic and dont let off to lean back it…saw a newbie with an r1 do this last year getting on the 33 towards the airport from the 198 and knicked the on ramp wall…
yea joe said he was laying on his back at first but then he got right back on his bike. i said “dude are you sure you’re ok???” and he said he was fine.
I’m talking lost lost…if I know the route Ill keep going. Im slow, but I keep up well enough on Deleware cruises for me to hang.
no one should be having these issues this early in the season anyways…I keep wanting to push it already but holy crap its way too early in the season for that i like to use this time just to get back into it and feel everything out again and get some seat time and catch up on the 8 or so months off…IMO no matter how good of a rider or experienced you are…there is always some skill lost over those winter months that have to get reaquainted with before you start pushing it again
we weren’t pushing it hard at all. i forgot to switch to my clear shield anyways so i was riding with it up so i could actually see. my eyes were nice and watery.
i just wish he would have let us get a tow truck, that bike is fucked. there was a steady stream of oil coming out of it… i hope he didn’t have a far ride, or go down again with the oil spitting onto his tires.
I didn’t even get to see anything, I was just nervous someone went down and hoping they were okay, the guy seemed like a showoff, his bike looked like a Christmas tree, had so many lights on it. He seemed really flustered after we made sure he was okay he was riding in circles on the grass, i hope he made it home okay, I’m sure his bike didn’though.
My bet is on target fixation.
People need to get smarter, sooner… cuz darwin is gaining ground.

i was about to get his number while were talking before the ride but forgot. then when we all went to check on him he was already trying to start the bike and leave. we really didn’t get a chance to do anything.
oh and kind of off topic i still have not gotten a chance to get out with you guys yet…that needs to change!
fuck that, ur way nicer that I am. I would have rubbed that shit in soooo bad. tell him to get a cruiser so he can learn to ride before he gets a big boy bike like the 14. that shit pisses me off. they need to have tests before you can buy certain bikes i swear.
ill be out the rest of the week after work. suppose to be 60 the next few days.
