You can’t just kill the internet a lot of those internet back haul fiber links transport phone traffic…I guess they could turn off DNS but still that doesn’t “kill” the internet or protect anyone.
Not to mention all the other countries that use the internet.
The current, on-going argument is that the internet is so important right now that it should be considered a “public necessity / utility” and the Government should have more control over it in order to protect it.

This bill still has a long way to go before it’s law. It seems it’s intentions are good but until it becomes law, no one will know exactly how it will be used in the future.
The internet is part of a whole ton of legislation right now. This is still a draft bill and the President already pretty much has that power, at least via the Bush interpretation.
The FCC/net neutrality stuff is actually more important, people don’t want gov’t control of anything but in this case the FCC is much better for consumers than control by the ISP’s.
Oh, and I think we should tell our people how many children to have. Especially if they’re on public support.

Critical infrastructure shouldn’t even be connect to the internet…power, military, etc.
The government can’t protect its own small highly regulated networks from breaches how would they ever protect the internet lol

IMO the internet is a utility, and should be treated as such. Does the president have the power to shut down water, or electricity? Lieberman comparing it to china REALLY makes me nervous…

The plan should be to remove critical systems from the internet not disconnecting the US from the internet.

They don’t give exact details if its blocking traffic outside the US or stopping all internet traffic in general.
