Is it me or does the electoral vote system seem shitty? Do they update the number of votes based on GDP per state?
I had a conference call at work today with my European counterparts and they were quite pleased with the outcome. To sum up their thoughts in one sentence, Obama is not the douche bag that Bush is.
Despite his lack of foreign policy experience, it seems that other countries are very optimistic about Obama being president. And these people follow American politics a hell of a lot closer than most people in the US. It’s actually kind of sad.
I will just say, If Obama want’s to avoid the greatest economic disaster this country has EVER seen, he better figure out a way to keep atleat 2 of the big 3 viable for the next few years. If Ford and GM go down we’re all fucked and the Obama administration will go down in history as one of the worst times in American history regardless of who’s fault it is.
All I have to say is, Clinton was our first black president.
With a democrat in office, it would be a miracle for the economy to find itself in a worst position than with what the Bush administration has done.

The electoral college is based on how many congressmen there are for your state. Add that number with the two senators and you get your number.

Not really. This election season showed it works, Montana, North Dakota both got attention that a popular vote total wouldn’t have cared about.
The electoral college system appears to suck when the parties go for 270 (2000, 2004) it works well when someone tries to win 400 (2008)
The problem is people look for the one problem so they can fix it and there isn’t one.
The poor in the cities need to take more responsibility for thier lot in life but at the same time the system is broken for them.
It is very difficult for many of them to break from the cycle of shit that they were born into. Such as education, the cities education system in the poor sections are rediculous, 30+ student classes do not insite learning, it tends to become a babysitting class.
Drugs run rampant in the city and the fact of the mater is, you can make a shit load more money dealing then working at Burger King, as long as you don’t get caught. And since for many of these people that becomes thier only options in thier eyes they go to drugs and crime.
Now I’m not for affirmative action, but I am for getting the systems to work so that everyone has on opportunity to succeed. They just have to go out and apply themselves.
x2 many states with less than 10 votes would be ignored completely during election time.

I’ve thought about it and I mean it would definitely switch campaigning to big cities only, but it just sucks that 4 of the 5 most populous states are not in play right now, with the lone exception being FL, and that losing one state by .0000001% is the same as losing it by 99%.
Maybe something like the democratic primary system, where there was still an electoral system, but every state actually mattered, since margins counted.

Splitting electoral votes may not be such a bad thing in the case of a head to head race.
Today Obama will attend the security briefing.
He will learn more from the CIA (AKA the puppet masters) when he meets with them about the real world than he has in 44 years.
