Obama's new chief of staff supports a draft?

That’s how he got elected, right?
Don’t question Obama!!!111

You mean the youth who put Obama into office?

I’m not going there

Yeah, unlike Republicans we don’t need to elect ours through the Supreme Court.

I agree this was not part of our founding fathers vision for a free society and there is no need to MAKE every person do time in the military. We have a completely volunteer based service that gets the job done now.

It’s funny how even the people in the service don’t want to be doing this, it’s our generations vietnam but they do it cause well the alternative is being dead from an enemy shot or IED.

More and more is starting to surface showing true colors (no pun) of character. I think this country has been fooled by the largest media hype campaign ever. Although to be fair, the guy hasn’t served a day in office yet, it’s just the gut feeling I get.

I look at him, and I don’t trust him, it’s nothing to do with race, it’s just him, his manurisms, body language, speech inflection, eye movements, everything.

I’ve learned to trust my gut instincts, I just hope that in the end they are wrong this time.

That would actually be hilarious.
“Thanks for electing me now go to war.”

“like omg im so voting for Obama because George Bush was a JERK”

:meh: youth of America, this is what our generation has created?

Well they will learn really fucking quickly that its not trendy to vote for a candidate. You should probably do your research before you vote. I’m not saying I voted for obama either. As a matter of fact I didn’t vote becuase I didn’t feel I had enough information on either candidate to support a decision to vote for one of them

I love this country and the freedoms we have. Even during the worst times we have seen there has not been a day that we have had it worse than other places in the world. I give back by working and paying taxes which fund community programs that people get to sit on their ass every day and claim checks for.

I feel that people who get welfare and shit should be required to do work for it. Make them give back to the community or country. A kid graduating from high school should not be required to do work for the country. Let him do what he decides which are rights we have always had and make the country great.

“this is not a draft,” but go on to write of young men and women, “the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service.”

CIVILIAN SERVICE NOT JOIN THE ARMY AND GO OVER TO IRAQ

I can’t take the bitching any more. I am taking a self imposed hiatus from all political threads until 1/20/09.

Actually 3 months of civilian service would be pretty nice. Especiually with all the extra AID the national guard gives out with like Hurricane Katrina relief, Hurricane double stuff Louisana IKE, Fires in California, and random security jobs protecting places like the Robert Moses.

My problem is that there was a whole college age movement to vote for Obama when i gaurentee maybe 1 in 5 actually knew why they were voting for him, other than it was the cool thing to do and he wasnt George Bush. This is what scares me.

I disagree about the kid just graduating high school. A high school diploma won’t get you far these days. IF they have a set college plan they I have no problem letting go to college.

I feel too much of America is under educated and its not becuase they aren’t given the chance to go. There just isn’t enough motivation to go.

same goes for the 97% of african americans that voted for Obama. How many of them voted for obama for his political views and not just because he is black.

10% of the voting community was “black” thats a huge chunk of votes (according to exit polls of course)

Oh yeah, waiting until after bad legislation to pass to stop them has always worked in the past…

As Pericles said “ordinary citizens, though occupied with pursuits of industry; are still fair judges of public matters. Unlike any other nation, we regard a man who takes no part in these duties not as unambitious but as useless. Instead of looking on discussion as a stumbling block in the way of action, we athenians consider it an indispensable preliminary to any wise action at all.”

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLICS FAIL WITHOUT CONSTANT DEBATE AND QUESTIONING OF LEGISLATION AND OFFICIALS.

Yes, but this is understandable. If i was Black i would have voted for him as well. My problem is the fucking morons at UB and every other college in the nation with their mindless support for the man. This is how Hitler was elected.

its like starship troopers

I also think everyone should spend a term in the military… I wanted to but my family would not let me go (I got paid off)

I agree with that. If someone wants to float through life and get hand outs from the government, turn civil service requirements into a type of job. Just make strict rules who is required to. If someone wants to live and progress their life, they need to be able to keep independent thinking and choices or America would have lost its freedom.

Oh man. I gotta find it. There is a howard stern video clip of them going around NYC asking random people who are supporting Obama if they think his choice of Palin would be a good Vice president and other random questions about Baracks policies (which were really McCains) and people would say shit like: "Ya I definitly think that Obama’s choice for Palin was a good move and she really can handle her self to run the country if needed.

The age generation tho is typical all over. Look at college campuses last election. So many people wanted Kerry and if you asked why, “Bush is a dumb ass” was the standard answer. No one really had any knowledge of the candidates.

MTV and all these people are promoting voting which is great but no one really has any clue of their issues they are supporting.

Are you serious? Cant post unless we swing from Obama’s massive sack? Im not even a republican, anyone who votes for someone based on a political party is a fucking moron. I didnt vote for Obama for multiple reasons.
