Yeah, like $6k worth of landscaping is dead at my house…

pffft…i have $6K worth of landscaping in my BASEMENT dead now.

^lol

Running on generator power. Whole block is down. The cable and power line were ripped off the house. Went out for food not really that bad… Kenmore is toasted! BTW I went long on USO on Monday $$$

KK

Crossing my fingers. We have power in Kenmore. Just put on my gas fireplace, kicking back watching a movie on tv and going to fire up the laptop.

power out in amherst in some spots well i know where mine is out because i can see the line down in front or my apartment

Just got my power back on GI. Was only out since 11am today.

no power since yesterday 730pm

luckily I went to the dmv yesterday to get my winter beater on the road :stuck_out_tongue:

agreed

i went from UB north -> 290 -> 190 -> west side

took me an hour and 30 mins

I got stuck in Alden at my parent’s house last night. Managed to get there from East Aurora (at the start of the drive, I assumed my Mom was grossly exaggerating how bad it was, we had 2 inches!). They had no power, I was going to retrieve my Mom and let her stay with my wife and I (we still had power at that point, around 11:30). The closer I got to Alden the worse it was, I got stuck three times in the middle of the road, had to drive over a couple smallish trees that had completely blocked roads. Upon arriving and getting stuck for a fourth time (15 yards from their driveway) it had occured to me that I wasn’t going anywhere. It took me a bit over an hour for the normally 20 minute drive, wouldn’t have been quite that long but I stopped and let a stranded GTI driver use my cell phone. At about 2am (I couldn’t sleep from the sounds of the branches falling on and around their house) the sump pump hole starts to overflow. From 2am until a bit after 11am I was running up and down the stairs from the basement outside with two 5 gallon buckets, and it was a losing battle. My Mom ran around and got everything of worth (and within a few feet of the floor) upstairs, and when she finished I gave up. Went to sleep for a few hours then went outside to survey the damage. Their yard looks like it got hit by a bombing run. Their neighboor has (well, had) a HUGE (100 ft+) Maple that has been half dead for over a year, they’ve been bugging him to cut it down, but he had refused. Well now he doesn’t have to. It came down last night, missing the side of my parent’s place (with the trunk, the branches knocked the gutter off an entire side of their house) by less than 15 ft. It completely pwned a Birch tree that it landed on.

Finally Alden got a plow out and I made my way back home. No power here either despite hardly any snow at all. My wife tells me that a transformer blew a couple blocks over. We go out to get batteries and a few flashlights, and by the time we got back we now have power, which judging from the 380,000 homes without power I heard on the radio earlier makes us lucky.

Welcome to winter.

Wow, a lot of you all had power for a long time… . I lost it at 6PM last night. Pretty intense night, and awful morning.

No power, no water, nothing. All morning, I was out with my chainsaw helping clear the street, cleaning up the mess… tons of fun, especially since “going inside to get warm” meant walkiing into a house that was only 55 degrees.

So, my house won’t have power and I decided that I better head towards Niagara Falls. At the moment, I’m sitting at Dunkin Donuts, looking at all the other peoples pics, and just remember the intensity of the day.

From cleaning off the heavy snow from the back awning (SP?) to doing bucket bragade for the water in the basement (none on the floor thank god, just raising water in the sump pump) then, shoveling the driveway… but wait, 25 foot branches from the tree that is now decimated and destroyed forever sitting in the way?! Sure, let me get my chainsaw. “Hey nieghbor, can you help me with that?” “Sure! help me move these branches?” So, for 6 hours, the neighborhood worked together one after another clearing the street, and talking about the whole thing sadly. Every tree, the treeline above the houses, all gone. What an incredible day.

Finally, my car lowered, my summer Falken Azenis ST615s still on my car… I choose “I am outta here” and get in loaded up with whatever I can think of needing for a week, and head out to Niagara Falls. Now, I’m here… talking with all the other people that stop in Dunkin Donuts, asking about their daily adventures, discussing things… and they all want to check their email on my laptop.

Great day. But, I hope everyone that is at their houses still stay warm, and realizes how they won’t have power or anything for a few days at least. Be safe

roffle roffle

Damn Xander thats pretty bad, but I think we got ya beat.

The entire power line and cable sheared off of the side of the house last night at 3am.
Power company says they won’t even be able to look at it until thursday.

Two of our neighbors houses have 50-60 year old trees sitting on thier front porches

Our porch awning has a 10ft tear in it.

Our block apparently was the worst in north buffalo, its completely insane.

Looks like I’m chillin at my parents in the southtowns for the next week!

it was 93 down here today around 1pm…we had the top down for the whole day

Florida>Ny

I can’t say I miss it, but at least everyone is ok up there.

Colvin/Crosby area the street light is still out. Whats your location?

no power since thursday night in Tonawanda Parker Blvd. / Sheridan

:word: I live right near eggert/sheridan and it’s a fcuking mess. My future father in law saved my ass though. He told me to run out thursday night and pick up a 12V sump pump and a boat battery, which I did and now my basement isn’t flooded. Then he picked me up Friday morning in his suby wagon because my Jetta was going nowhere fast. I’ve been riding it out on Grand Island with the in-laws. They only lost power for about 12 hours. I’m not sure what I’d be doing otherwise.

Until the next hurricane comes through.
