Hi guys, am I have bough a 91 240, and it has a problem with the odometer and speedometer(also speedo, is electric) which are not working. I could really use some input on this topic since I am new to the 240 community… all help would be appriciated…

I opened up the dash and I’ve added a Ground to the Cluster and it lit up becasue it seemed like the ground was not present though the original cluster connection. but the speedo(which is digital) and odo arnt still working so do any of you guys know if there is other problem that could be occuring, as in some sensor being at fault other than the cluster.
fuse? iunno what it is but it happens on my buddy’s sentra too…intermittent times though…seems to stop workin whenever we venture out of brampton
Even though the dash is digital, I’m pretty sure they still have a mechanical speedo cable that runs from the Tranny to a converter.
Check that.
There’s still a cable but it’s not a mechanical connection, it’s electronic.
i had this problem, i thought it was cluster, it was the harness that is on the passenger side of the dash under the glove box above the ecu, brown connectors, make sure nothing is fucked there, then check the hud harness, if that doesnt work then go to a junkyard and grab a speed sensor, it is electronic by wire, it plugs into the side of the tranny and has a plastic gear on it, the plastic can shatter but it is rare for that to happen.
but clusters can break too, i had a jdm one that came with a clip never have the speedo or any lights working, then i switched to another hud unit and it worked fine…

Thanx guys. I got it fixed, I had to go to junk yard to get a new cluster the speedo wasnt ok on my car and the harness was tempered with I believe so i got that too some wires were pulled out. thanx again for the help guys. CHEERS…
