Off-roading pics from this weekend 3-14-09

So over the past 2 years i shifted from Honda to Jeeps and i’ll be the first one to say i like this a LOT more then cars. This past weekend i drove down to Rausch Creek Off road Park in PA and camped / wheeled the entire weekend.

unlike cars you’re always doing something and can challenge yourself and your car in a ton of different ways. The people are all friendly and fun to hang out with. Camp fires and all the random crap that goes on after dark is a blast.

Most people think of going in a big mud hole and out the other side when they picture off roading. This place has some mud holes, but its mainly rocks and hills and hills with rocks haha.

ill let the pics do the talking. I have the black wrangler

I took on some water here. good thing for drain holes. It was over 3 feet deep on the passenger side and I
was right along the edge with my driver side

the bad thing about jeeping is that sometimes you’ll go over a trail or obstacle so fast that nobody has a chance to get pics! But this gets the idea accross on my weekend of wheelin’. I’m working on sending some off of my phone to my e-mail so i’ll add more in a little bit. ENJOY

 my old man was there over the summer for the first time with his jeep. Its just a stock '00 wrangler with 31’s. He had a lot of fun and cant wait to go back.

Looks like a blast, wish I could have went.

Great pics.

How helpful is it to have that spotter in front of you? I dunno if I could trust someone while climbing over rocks in a jeep.

That looks like an awesome time

a spotter makes a HUGE difference. Some of these rocks stick up 2-3+ feet and if you don’t ride on um right you can slide and damage some stuff pretty badly… especially if you don’t have good skid plates and body armor (like myself) that’s my next step. My jeep made it everywhere i wanted to go without being pulled or winched once. If i had better protection i would have tried a lot more. You can see the one pic of Erik on Rock Creek. It’s 1800 feet of just massive pointy rocks that are aiming to get your oil pan or diff cover

and i had Bronco’s and a Blazer… “Demlers” was fun till they started cracking down
Man i miss off roading… problem here was got caught too many times in places i shouldn’t be

why didnt billy go ?

haha i know i don’t get it b/c it’s just as tall as the orange jeep and 1/2 inch shorter then the green one at the end. I just parked next to 2 jeeps that have 39.5 inch tires compared to my 35’s.

I like my jeep being low actually. It keeps the COG (center of gravity) low and makes it less tipsey on off camber situations. I never rub tires and have had it flexed out pretty far so im happy with it. The new shocks i bought are kind of long for the lift I have so I might buy 1 inch taller springs if the shocks are acting as bump stops with the set up i have now

parts fail (did not get to his house yet)and back issues

his jeep wasn’t Rausch Creek ready yet. He’s waiting on his bumper so he has a winch and tow points… then needs some rocker guards so his uni-body doesn’t hate him

ahhhhh … awesome pics though… matt i miss you call me for some beers soon <3

thanks for the call ballbag…i hate you

my dad is into this bigtime

he’s got an 06ish wrangler that has a chevy 350 in it  all setup just for offroading, doesn’t see pavement at all really, he lives in michigan though, goes on the jeep jamboree’s all the time

here’s him on one of the jamborees when he first got his jeep, first one in line there

forgot this one! you can clearly see the waterline is over my door opening!

thank god for drain holes

eric- i’ll prolly go to tony romes for beer’s tonight if you’re not doing nething.

jay- I already had a co-pilot for my jeep

skurge- what made your dad swap out the almost brand new motor for a 350? For that kind of money he could have just done gears and a 4-1 transfer case and been able to climb anything even if it was a 4 banger.

yea, thanks for the call douche bag, i coulda brought the rodeo.lol

Nice pics

Im surprised no CB’s and snorkels

the few times i went down to PA for trails with a bronco club we had cb’s
and with water like that litle pond snorkel is nice to have, hydro lock sucks
