free agency did that, the salaraies for average goaltenders is out of control
Good to see them pay someone. If he didn’t sign this summer, you could kiss him goodbye.
Those of you that are complaining, who exactly would you have rather seen them get in net in that price range? Particularly since they have to pay a premium to get guys to come here?
he would have gotten 8 to 10 per on the open market.
…no
…yes. watch and see what the best goalie in FA goes for next year.
There would have been another Campbell type run-up.
sadly you’re right but this is gonna end somewhere, the league can’t support these salaries for just slightly above average players.
yes, he def would. I still have a lot of faith in Miller, he had a great year two years ago and a lot on his mind this year, so a less than stellar season is understandable.
I’m happy with it for a number of reasons. Miller was one of the guys who was very shaky with his faith in management after we let drury, briere, then campbell go. He was interviewed after campbell left and seemed very upset, and nervous about management. By us locking him up, it’s a step in the right direction towards getting the players enthusiastic about staying here.
I’m a miller fan, I hope he can make the best of the next 5-6 years
meh, dont think it was a good move.
Hopefully with the contract stuff done he’ll get his head in the right place and play better. I don’t want to hear him cry about being too busy then see him in multiple commercials, concerts, and fashion shows. Plus the backup we have now should be capable of 20 or so games.
Your right, thats why the NHL will be out of business in the next 20 years if they don’t figure out how to cap salaries and still attract the world’s best players. International leagues are looking better every year. Just ask Jagr.
The Sabres added some offense on Thursday.
Buffalo agrees to terms with unrestricted free agent Mathieu Darche. It’s a one year, two-way deal. The financial terms were not given.
The left wing is coming off a career season. He scored 22 points for the Lightning. He’s a veteran of four NHL teams-Tampa Bay, San Jose, Nashville, and Columbus.
Darche comes from an athletic family. His brother, J.P., is a long-snapper for the Kansas City Chiefs.
i found out a couple weeks back that a friend of mine from when I was like 12 is a video scout for the sabres. nice gig
hehehehehehe Darche…
Rhett Warrener sighting in the airport.
possible reasons:
family still in buffalo and he is visiting?
talking to sabres??..he is after all a free agent.
hmmmmmm…thoughts?
hmmm, interesting. It sure would add another veteran like they claim to have wanted to do. and at a cheap cost.
but I can’t say I’ve kept up with his skill level the last few years, so I can’t say if I’d like that move or not. But I did like him back when he was here the first time. Well, for the most part.
I just hope we start Gerbe, Kennedy, and Myers this year. Just put them out there. Cant hurt to see how they will do. Myers just has to eat more.
they have to make the team before we can just throw them out…otherwise, i think they should just be sent down for developing. but if they’re showing signs of something good during training camp or whatever, then by all means, let em play some games. but right now i’d rather see MacArthur out there while they get developed.
