seriously, it seems that every time this team starts to get on a roll, or is in a must win situation, ottawa comes up on the schedule and we forget how to play hockey
looked tired and very sloppy in our own end.
on the bright side, i might not have to suffer through growing a playoff beard this year!

What?! Butler isn’t even in his full year as a rookie; he’s still a call-up from Portland- of course he’s going to make mistakes.
This is what a lot of Sabre fans said about Sekera last year when he was still in the AHL getting called up, and in his 1st full year as a rookie he’s been a friggen stud.
The last thing Buffalo needs is another defenseman. Their core of forwards prospects is pretty weak, but the one thing they are solid in is defense. Butler, Weber, Myers, Gragnani and so on.
If the Sabres miss the playoffs, I will blame it on Ottawa.
Those motherfuckers.
Sorry but I still have to disagree, I had some reservations about Sekera but he showed some promise. Butler on the other hand makes consistent critical mistakes, he doesn’t know how to clear a puck to save his life or what to do with the puck behind the net. He almost never seems confident when its just him getting the puck in the corner.
IDK I just don’t like him. Maybe he will get better but frankly with so many other D men waiting I think we can and should replace him. I think Weber is better.
I do like butler and think he will def have a place in the nhl, however this year I could go either way for him (ahl or nhl).
and i do think we could use an offensive defenseman. big time.

And again, Butler is making mistakes, but he’s not even an NHLer as of right now, so give the kid a break.

I like how he’s played. Yeah he’s made some mistakes but so have the rest of the team. I think he’s fitting in quite well.
My biggest issue with Sekera is his decision making. It will come around with time and experience, but he often turns the puck over because he makes the wrong play in a situation
Even last year when he would turn the puck over, he made a solid effort to get back into the play and at least blocked a shot or got in the way to deflect it.
The kid is still so freaking young though. Do you remember how much Brian Campbell sucked for the first 5 years before the lockout? Now he’s making 8 million/season, lol. The fact that we’re only talking about minor giveaways and mistakes with him this early in his career is an excellent sign.
